Inleiding:
HERENHUIS gebouwd in 1919 in traditionalistische vormen met motieven van de Engelse Landhuisstijl voor de fabrikant vande strohulzen- en capsulesfabriek N.V. Bakermans. De fabriek, die op de hoek van de Dorpsstraat/Dorpweg stond, is in 1926 afgebrand.
Het huis ligt op een terras midden op het perceel, ca. 1.00meter boven de kruin van de weg. De voor- of zuidgevel ligt aan de Speelheuvelstraat.
Het herenhuis is nu in gebruik als huisartsenpraktijk. Aan de noordwestkant zijn hiervoor een dienstingang en garage aangebouwd. Beide onderdelen van het huis behoren niet tot het monument.
Omschrijving:
Het kubusvormige, klassieke bakstenen huis is symmetrisch vanopzet met geblokte hoekpilasters. Het huis is bekroond dooreen hoog overstekend schilddak met een geknikte voet. Op de nok twee hoekschoorstenen. Het dak is gedekt met rode opnieuw verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Goot en overstek van het dak worden gedragen door voluutvormige consoles. De voorgevel bestaat uit drie traveeën, waarvan de buitenste risalerend zijn. In de rechter travee een driezijdige erkergedeeltelijk van hout en baksteen onder platdak. De monumentale ingangspartij heeft een rondbogig bovenlicht voorzien van stervormige roedenverdeling. Boven de voordeur op de verdieping een houten balkon. Voor het portiek een frontale gemetselde trap van vijf treden met bordes. Aan de noordkant heeft het huis een serre-uitbouw onder platdak en aan de oostkant een stenen erker met erboven eenbalkon. De vensters van het huis hebben alle bovenlichten voorzien van kleine roedenverdeling. Op de verdieping kruisvensters. Het opgaande muurwerk bestaat uit machinale baksteen gemetseld in halfsteensverband. Voor de hoekpilasters zijn imitatie handvormstenen gebruikt. Het muurwerk van de rondgaande plint van het huis en de ingangspartij is gemetseld in kruisverband. Boven de kozijnen hanenkammen.
