Omschrijving
TOEGANGSHEK. Aan het begin van de oprijlaan een 18de-eeuws toegangshek bestaande uit twee grote zandstenen hekpijlers van blokwerk bekroond door gebeeldhouwde vazen. Tussen de pijlers een dubbel ijzeren spijlenhek. Pijlers en hekwerk zijn afkomstig van de borg Dijksterhuis te Pieterburen. Zij zijn in 1933 naar de Menkemaborg overgebracht en staan sinds 1981 op de huidige plaats. In dat jaar ook werd het aansluitende houten hek gereconstrueerd.

Description
ACCESS GATE. At the beginning of the drive an 18th-century access gate consisting of two large sandstone gate piers of ashlar work crowned by sculpted vases. Between the piers a double iron spear gate. Piers and gate-work are from the manor Dijksterhuis at Pieterburen. They were moved to the Menkemaborg in 1933 and have stood at their present location since 1981. In that year the adjoining wooden gate was also reconstructed.
