Inleiding
GRAFMONUMENT in Neoclassicistische stijl uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw is opgericht ter nagedachtenis aan A.J. Schelling, overleden te Caïro in 1883. Het grafmonument bevindt zich aan de westzijde, nabij het hekwerk langs de dijk, op de tegen de dijk aangelegde begraafplaats van Ouderkerk aan de IJssel.
Omschrijving
Natuurstenen grafmonument bestaat uit een sokkel met inscriptie, waarop als funerair motief een op een basement geplaatste afgebroken zuil is geplaatst.

Het grafmonument van A.J. Schelling is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als karakteristiek voorbeeld van een in Neoclassicistische stijl vormgegeven grafmonument uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw.
