Inleiding
BAARHUISJE is gebouwd in de tweede kwart van de 19e eeuw in Neoclassicistische stijl als onderdeel van de tegen de dijk aangebouwde begraafplaats in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel. Het bevindt zich aan de zuidoostzijde van de begraafplaats in de middenas van het terrein.
Omschrijving
Eénlaags baarhuisje op rechthoekige plattegrond bestaat uit grijs geschilderde houten wanden op een gepleisterde stenen onderbouw, voorzien van muurankers. Aan de zuidwestelijke langszijde bevindt zich een getoogde opening met diefijzers. Het zadeldak is gedekt met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen en heeft aan de voorzijde een geprofileerde dakrand als windveer. In combinatie met de rondom het pand aangebrachte op gietijzeren klampen steunende goot heeft de top van de voorgevel (noordoost) het aanzien van een driehoekig fronton. Hierin zijn funeraire motieven aangebracht, bestaande uit een grote in hout een wit geschilderde omlijsting die toegankelijk is via een klein houten trapje uitgesneden en witgeschilderde zandloper geplaatst en daarvoor twee gekruiste zeisen. Onder het fronton bevindt zich een dubbele rechtgesloten deur binnen een wit geschilderde omlijsting, welke toegankelijk is via een klein houten trapje. De hoeken van de voorgevel worden geaccentueerd door wit geschilderde planken, die het karakter hebben van lisenen. De overige gevels zijn blind.
Waardering
Het baarhuisje is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als vrij zeldzaam voorbeeld van een houten baarhuisje in Neoclassicistische stijl uit het tweede kwart van de 19de eeuw. Het houten bij een dijk gebouwd baarhuisje is gaaf in hoofdvorm, materiaalgebruik en detaillering en van belang vanwege de bijzondere typologie en het materiaalgebruik. BARHOUSE was built in the second quarter of the 19th century in Neoclassical style as part of a cemetery built against the dike in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel. It is located on the south-east side of the cemetery in the central axis of the grounds.
Description
Single-storey barhouse on rectangular ground plan consisting of grey-painted wooden walls on a plastered stone base, provided with ornamental wall anchors. On the south-west long side there is a segmental opening with theft bars. The gabled roof is covered with weathered Dutch tiles and has a moulded roof edge as wind brace at the front. In combination with the cast-iron clamp-supported gutter around the building, the top of the front facade (north-east) has the appearance of a triangular pediment. Funerary motifs are incorporated in it, consisting of a large wooden hourglass painted white with framing, accessible via a small wooden ladder, cut out and whitewashed, and in front of it two crossed scythes. Below the pediment is a double closed door within a whitewashed frame, which is accessible via a small wooden ladder. The corners of the front facade are accentuated by whitewashed boards, which have the character of pilasters. The remaining facades are blind.

The barhouse is of general interest because of its cultural and architectural-historical value as a fairly rare example of a wooden barhouse in Neoclassical style from the second quarter of the 19th century.
