Omschrijving onderdeel 2: HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG.
De buitenplaats bestaat uit een hoger en een lager deel. Van oudsher komen op het lager gelegen, natte terrein geen bebouwing en maar weinig beplanting voor. Het hogere deel wordt gekenmerkt door bebouwing, wandelbossen, boomgaarden en bouwlanden. Vanuit het huis lopen diverse zichtassen die de ruimtelijke structuur van de aanleg bepalen. De zichtassen in westelijke richting en het panorama in oostelijke en zuidelijke richting worden begeleid door solitairen en boomgroepen bij het huis. In zuidwestelijke richting voert een zicht via het dal van de Polbeek richting Zutphen. Door middel van enkele boomgroepen en solitairen wordt de buitenplaats verweven met het omringende landschap.
Aan de noord- en noordwestkant van het huis ligt een wandelbos met daarin een aantal door lanen begeleide, gebogen wandelingen, waaronder een dubbel beplante beukenlaan. In het westelijk deel ligt op de overgang tussen het wandelbos en de weilanden aan de zuidkant een halfopen gebied met gazons, boomgroepen en solitairen (zomereik en treurbeuk, en bij het huis beuk, linde en plataan). In dit deel liggen de moestuin met tuinmuur en kassen (onderdeel 5) en een tuinkoepel (onderdeel 4). Langs de bosrand is een heesterbeplanting aangebracht als overgang tussen het halfopen gebied en het wandelbos. Het ten zuiden van het huis en het halfopen gebied gelegen weiland - en daarvan door een eikenlaan gescheiden - wordt beëindigd door een beekarm en vormt een fraaie overgang tussen de buitenplaats en het omringende agrarische landschap. De eikenlaan heeft aan de zuidzijde een dicht plantverband, aan de noordzijde is er geen sprake van een uniform plantverband. Zo is een vloeiende overgang naar het landschapspark geschapen. Aan het eind van de laan staat een grenspaal die de grens tussen Gorssel en Zutphen aangaf.
Aan de westkant geeft een verhoogd talud een fraai zicht op de buitenplaats. Dit talud vormt tevens de afsluiting van het complex.
Het huis wordt bereikt via een aan een zijde ingeplante eikenlaan aan de zuidkant waar het huis links naast is gelegen. De as van deze laan is gericht op de zuidgevel van de tuinmanswoning. Direct daarna buigt de laan met een haakse hoek af richting Den Dam.
Waardering
De HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG, behorend tot de historische buitenplaats 't Klaphek is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:
- wegens de ouderdom;
- wegens de fraai inpassing van het landschapspark in een bestaande agrarische omgeving;

Description component 2: HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT.
The country estate consists of a higher and a lower part. Traditionally, the lower-lying, wet ground has no buildings and little vegetation. The higher part is characterised by buildings, woodland walks, orchards and arable fields. Various sight lines run from the house which determine the spatial structure of the layout. The sight lines in the westerly direction and the panorama in the easterly and southerly direction are accompanied by solitary trees and tree groups near the house. In the south-westerly direction a sight leads via the valley of the Polbeek in the direction of Zutphen. By means of several tree groups and solitary trees the country estate is woven into the surrounding landscape.
On the north and north-west side of the house is a woodland walk with a number of curved walks accompanied by lanes, including a double-planted beech avenue. In the western part, on the transition between the woodland walk and the meadows on the south side, there is a semi-open area with lawns, tree groups and solitary trees (pedunculate oak and weeping beech, and near the house beech, linden and plane). In this part are the vegetable garden with garden wall and greenhouses (component 5) and a garden pavilion (component 4). Along the woodland edge a shrub planting has been introduced as a transition between the semi-open area and the woodland walk. The meadow lying to the south of the house and the semi-open area - separated from it by an oak avenue - is terminated by a stream arm and forms a fine transition between the country estate and the surrounding agricultural landscape. The oak avenue has dense planting on the south side, on the north side there is no uniform planting pattern. In this way a fluid transition to the landscape park has been created. At the end of the avenue stands a boundary marker that indicated the boundary between Gorssel and Zutphen.
On the west side a raised embankment provides a fine view of the country estate. This embankment also forms the enclosure of the complex.
The house is reached via an oak avenue planted on one side on the south side, where the house is situated to the left. The axis of this avenue is directed at the south facade of the gardener's lodge. Directly afterwards the avenue turns at a right angle in the direction of Den Dam.
