Omschrijving onderdeel 2: Parkaanleg.
Midden negentiende eeuw is een eenvoudig park in landschapsstijl aangelegd, waarbij is uitgegaan van de aanwezige gracht van het voormalige kasteel. De verhoging ter plaatse van het voormalige kasteel en de aanwezigheid van puin in de bodem, betekenen dat zich mogelijk ondergronds restanten van de oudere bebouwing bevinden. Binnen de omgrachting is een vijver met eiland aangelegd. De beide oevers van de beek aan de zuidzijde van het terrein vormen een belangrijk element in de parkaanleg. Het park is van algemeen belang vanwege zijn cultuurhistorische waarde (voorbeeld Engelse landschapsstijl, integratie van de middeleeuwse gracht in de parkaanleg, betekenis in samenhang met het hoofdgebouw). Aan de voorzijde van het huis bevindt zich een door een houtwal omgeven agrarisch perceel dat gezien de coulisseachtige aanplant van bomen bij het huis als blikveld een belangrijke rol in de ruimtelijke opbouw van de aanleg speelt. Aan de oostzijde van het terrein bevindt zich een oprijlaan over een lengte van circa 1000 m. Deze laan wordt begeleid door bomenrijen die binnen de gracht uiteenwijken. De laan is oorspronkelijk de oprijlaan geweest van het kasteel, dat met één van de hoeken in het verlengde van de laan lag. Daardoor is er weinig relatie tussen de laan en het tegenwoordige hoofdgebouw. De laan is van algemeen belang vanwege zijn betekenis voor de cultuurhistorie van het gebied en de geschiedenis van de historische buitenplaats. Uit de tijd dat Old Putten een landgoed met omliggende landerijen was, zijn nog enkele belangrijke kenmerken overgebleven. Ten eerste een lange zichtlijn naar het landgoed Schouwenburg, ten zuidoosten van het hoofdgebouw. Ten tweede bevindt zich ten westen van het park een vroegere boomgaard die in zijn omgrenzing in het veld nog te herkennen is maar waarvan de aanleg is vervangen door kampeerplaatsen. In the mid-nineteenth century, a simple park in landscape style was laid out, based on the existing moat of the former castle. The elevation at the site of the former castle and the presence of rubble in the soil mean that underground remains of the older buildings may be present. Within the moat a pond with island has been laid out. Both banks of the stream on the south side of the site form an important element in the park layout. The park is of general importance because of its cultural-historical value (example of English landscape style, integration of the medieval moat in the park layout, significance in conjunction with the main building). At the front of the house is an agricultural plot surrounded by a wooden palisade that, given the curtain-like planting of trees at the house as a visual field, plays an important role in the spatial composition of the layout. On the east side of the site is an approach drive over a length of approximately 1000 m. This avenue is accompanied by rows of trees that diverge within the moat. The avenue was originally the approach to the castle, which had one of its corners in line with the avenue. Therefore, there is little relationship between the avenue and the present main building. The avenue is of general importance because of its significance for the cultural history of the area and the history of the historical country estate. From the time when Old Putten was a landed estate with surrounding lands, a few important features remain. First, a long sight line to the Schouwenburg estate, to the south-east of the main building.
