Omschrijving
De entree tot de buitenplaats wordt gevormd door een inrijhek (5), dat toegang geeft tot een oprijlaan beplant met een dubbele rij eiken. Aan de linkerzijde bevindt zich het complex van bossen en open landerijen, rechts de toegang tot het huis en zijn directe omgeving.
Het huis met bouwhuizen en voorplein wordt omgeven door een gracht, die aan de achterzijde van het huis is verbreed en een bocht vertoont. Dit is een laat voorbeeld van Louis XIV-stijl. De landerijen rond de omgrachting bestaan sinds tenminste omstreeks 1850 in hoofdzaak uit boomgaarden (zie top. kaart 1838-1857) en zijn door een tweede, bescheiden omgrachting omgeven. Het voorplein is toegankelijk via een poortgebouw (3). Het centrum wordt gevormd door een rond perk (reeds uitgebeeld in 1807, zie Van de Voort 1982). Dit perk is in 1981 gereconstrueerd. Langs de gracht loopt een haag van snoeilinden. Bij de poort staan opgeschoren kastanjes. Nabij het huis staan drie natuurstenen drinkbakken, nu in gebruik als bloembakken. Verder zijn er drie portretbustes (6), een voet van een zonnewijzer (7) en links van de poort een tuinkoepel (4). In de zuidhoek van het terrein ligt een ijskelder (8).
Het noordwestelijke gedeelte van de buitenplaats is veel groter. De zuidelijke grens wordt gevormd door de oprijlaan. Tegenover de entree tot het huis is een bescheiden rechte laan aanwezig die zich over de oprijlaan als zichtas een stukje voortzet. Deze is reeds zichtbaar op het kadastraal minuutplan van 1828 (gemeente Udenhout sectie B, blad 2) en op de top. kaart van 1838-1853. Verder bevinden zich hier verschillende noord-zuid lopende houtwallen en singels. Pas sinds omstreeks 1900 (vergelijk top. kaart 1893/1901-1902 met oudere kaarten) is dit gebied zo open als het nu is. Noordelijker ligt het achttiende-eeuwse rastervormige lanenpatroon, dat oorspronkelijk tot aan het huis liep en waar de laan tegenover het huis een onderdeel van vormde. In het westen hiervan ligt een simpel sterrenbos met kom, in het oosten een tweede kom en aan de oostelijke grens rabatten. Dit gedeelte is in hoofdzaak bebost met naald- en loofhout. Erlangs en erdoor lopen verschillende greppels en sloten.
Waardering
De parkaanleg van Strijdhoef, grotendeels bestaande uit achttiende-eeuwse elementen, is van algemeen belang vanwege:
- de achttiende-eeuwse waterpartij rond het huis met vijver in Louis XIV-stijl;
- de beplanting van het voorplein met leilinden en kastanjes;
- de rastervormige achttiende-eeuwse aanleg met kom en sterrenbos die nog grotendeels intact is;
- de ensemblewaarden van park met huis, bijgebouwen en tuinsieraden;
- de zeldzaamheid van wat betreft structuur gaaf bewaarde achttiende-eeuwse buitenplaatsen.

Description
The entrance to the country estate is formed by an entrance gate (5), which gives access to a carriage drive planted with a double row of oaks. On the left side is the complex of woods and open fields, on the right the access to the house and its immediate surroundings.
The house with outbuildings and front courtyard is surrounded by a moat, which is widened at the rear of the house and has a bend. This is a late example of Louis XIV style. The lands around the moat have, since at least around 1850, mainly consisted of orchards (see top. map 1838-1857) and are surrounded by a second, modest moat. The front courtyard is accessible via a gatehouse (3). The centre is formed by a round parterre (already depicted in 1807, see Van de Voort 1982). This parterre was reconstructed in 1981. Along the moat runs a hedge of clipped linden trees. At the gate stand trimmed chestnuts. Near the house stand three natural stone drinking troughs, now in use as flower boxes. Furthermore there are three portrait busts (6), a sundial base (7) and to the left of the gate a garden pavilion (4). In the south corner of the grounds lies an ice house (8).
The north-western part of the country estate is much larger. The southern boundary is formed by the carriage drive. Opposite the entrance to the house is a modest straight avenue which continues across the carriage drive as a sight axis for a distance. This is already visible on the cadastral minute plan of 1828 (municipality Udenhout section B, sheet 2) and on the top. map of 1838-1853. Furthermore there are here various north-south running hedgerows and tree-lined borders. Only since around 1900 (compare top. map 1893/1901-1902 with older maps) has this area been as open as it is now. Further north lies the eighteenth-century grid-patterned avenue layout, which originally extended to the house and of which the avenue opposite the house formed a part. In the west of this lies a simple star wood with clearing, in the east a second clearing and at the eastern boundary rabattes. This section is mainly wooded with coniferous and deciduous trees. Along and through it run various drainage channels and ditches.
Valuation
The park layout of Strijdhoef, consisting largely of eighteenth-century elements, is of general importance because of:
- the eighteenth-century water feature around the house with pond in Louis XIV style;
- the planting of the front courtyard with clipped linden trees and chestnuts;
- the grid-patterned eighteenth-century layout with clearing and star wood which is still largely intact;
- the ensemble values of park with house, outbuildings and garden ornaments;
- the rarity of what is, in terms of structure, well-preserved eighteenth-century country estates.
