Onderdeel 6
DUIVENTOREN uit 1862, centraal gelegen in het weiland ten oosten van kasteel Sterkenburg en op een van de vroeg 17de-eeuwse lanen georienteerd. De duiventoren is in dezelfde vroege neo-renaissance stijl opgetrokken als de oranjerie en de vierkante toren van het kasteel naar ontwerp van de architect N.J. Kamperdijk volgens een mathematisch opgezet ontwerpsysteem. De rood bakstenen toren op 6-hoekig grondplan zwenkt boven het maaiveld enigszins in en wordt gedekt door een 6-zijdige uitzwenkende spitse kap (in 1996 gerestaureerd) die bekroond wordt door smeedwerk met zink een koperen bol en windvaan. De toren heeft een omgaande rondboogfries met 30 duivengaten. Een lijst deelt de zes gevelvlakken halverwege in twee delen en in elk van de zo ontstane muurvlakken bevindt zich een smalle lichtspleet. De ingang in de noordgevel bestaat uit een opening met rondboog. In de toren zijn op de etage 420 nissen tegen de oostelijke en zuidelijke (warme) muren gemetseld.

PIGEON TOWER from 1862, centrally located in the meadow to the east of Sterkenburg castle and oriented to one of the early 17th-century lanes. The pigeon tower is constructed in the same early neo-renaissance style as the orangery and the square tower of the castle according to the design of architect N.J. Kamperdijk following a mathematically conceived design system. The red brick tower on a hexagonal ground plan curves slightly above ground level and is covered by a six-sided curved pointed roof (restored in 1996) crowned by wrought iron work with zinc and a copper sphere and weathervane. The tower has a running arched frieze with 30 pigeon holes. A moulding divides the six facade surfaces halfway into two parts and in each of the resulting wall surfaces is a narrow light slot. The entrance in the north facade consists of an arched opening. In the tower are set on the floor 420 niches against the eastern and southern (warm) walls.
