Sinds de Middeleeuwen bezat 'Wickenburgh' het adellijk recht om duiven te mogelijk. Op een kleine landtong langs de vijver bevindt zich een zestiende- eeuwse DUIVENTOREN op ronde plattegrond onder een uitzwenkend, met zink bekleedde, achthoekige spits met windvaan als bekroning, waarop het jaartal 1675 staat. In de spits is een klein dakerkertje gezet met vijf duivengaten. De torenschacht is boven de gecementeerde plint opgetrokken uit baksteen van diverse formaten. Restauratiesporen dateren van 1675 en 1755. In het laatst genoemde jaar werd de met leien bedekte spits vervangen door de huidige. Aan de zuidoostzijde bevindt zich direct boven de plint een getoogd houten deurtje, dat via een houten trap te bereiken is.
Waardering
De duiventoren is van algemeen belang vanwege cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als vrij zeldzaam en gaaf voorbeeld van een 16de-eeuwse duiventoren, herinnerend aan het middeleeuws adellijk recht dat 'Wickenburgh bezat om duiven te mogen houden. Since the Middle Ages, 'Wickenburgh' possessed the noble right to keep pigeons. On a small promontory along the pond stands a sixteenth-century DOVECOTE on a circular ground plan beneath an outswinging, zinc-clad, octagonal spire topped with a weather vane, bearing the date 1675. In the spire is a small roof turret with five pigeon holes. The tower shaft is constructed above the cemented plinth from bricks of various sizes. Restoration marks date from 1675 and 1755. In the latter year, the slate-covered spire was replaced with the current one. On the south-east side, directly above the plinth, there is an arched wooden door, which is accessed via a wooden staircase.
Valuation
The dovecote is of general importance due to its cultural and architectural-historical value as a relatively rare and intact example of a 16th-century dovecote, recalling the medieval noble right that Wickenburgh possessed to keep pigeons. It also has ensemble value as a spatial and functional component of the Wickenburgh estate, which is prominently situated by the pond in the park.
