Inleiding
BOERDERIJ van het kop-romptype uit 1851 genaamd Huis De Merwede en hoofdonderdeel van het complex, uitgevoerd in combinatie van streekeigen bouwstijlen. Het portaal voor de entree in de zijgevel van het bedrijfsgedeelte is een recente toevoeging.
Omschrijving
BOERDERIJ van het kop-romptype met een vier traveeën tellend woonhuisgedeelte over twee bouwlagen en daarachter het smallere eenlaags, zes traveeën diepe bedrijfsgedeelte, beide onder een afgewolfd rietgedekt zadeldak.
Aan weerszijden van het woonhuis in hout uitgevoerde veranda's met gebogen korbelen onder verlengde dakschilden met een zeeg op houten hoekkolommen.
De gevels zijn opgetrokken in gele baksteen met boven de gevelopeningen strekken van rode baksteen, in de vorm van rondbogen. Rondom een grijsgeschilderde gepleisterde plint. In het woonhuisgedeelte T-venster, deels met persiennes, en in het bedrijfsgedeelte rondboogvormige staldeuren en halfronde ijzeren stalvensters met sierroedenverdeling.
In de symmetrische voorgevel drie vensterassen, geflankeerd door de veranda's met in beide gevels één venster. In het midden een gevelsteen met stichtingsjaar. In de zijgevels van het woongedeelte twee vensters en in de linker zijgevel de oorspronkelijke dubbele paneeldeur met levensboom in het bovenlicht. Achter het vergrote woonhuis een sterke krimp.
In de zijgevels van het bedrijfsgedeelte stalramen- en deuren onder rondbogen. Alleen de dakkapel boven de keukenvensters is oorspronkelijk.
Waardering
Boerderij "Huis de Merwede" is wegens cultuurhistorische waarde van algemeen belang als representatief voorbeeld van de zeer gedifferentieerde boerderijbouw in de Zuidplaspolder.
De boerderij is wegens architectuurhistorische waarde van algemeen belang vanwege de bijzondere en zeldzame typologie van het kop-romptype en de toepassing van veranda's bij het woonhuisgedeelte.

FARM of the head-and-body type with a residential section comprising four bays over two storeys and behind it the narrower single-storey, six bays deep business section, both under a curved thatched gabled roof.
On either side of the residential house timber-constructed verandas with curved corbels under extended roof slopes with a sag on wooden corner columns.
The gables are constructed in yellow brick with stretches of red brick above the openings, in the form of round arches. All around a grey-painted plastered plinth. In the residential section T-windows, partly with blinds, and in the business section round-arched stable doors and semicircular iron stable windows with decorative glazing bars.
In the symmetrical front gable three window axes, flanked by the verandas with one window in both gables. In the middle a foundation stone with year of construction. In the side gables of the residential section two windows and in the left side gable the original double panelled door with tree-of-life in the fanlight. Behind the enlarged residential house a severe contraction.
In the side gables of the business section stable windows and doors under round arches. Only the roof dormer above the kitchen windows is original.
