Inleiding
De stenen BOOGBRUG, bijgenaamd "de Boog", is gebouwd op de plek van een oudere, identieke brug uit 1808. De brug werd 10 mei 1940 opgeblazen door de Genie en in 1941 herbouwd in opdracht van het toenmalige Waterschap Hunsingo. De brug uit 1808 is aangelegd toen besloten werd het gedeelte van het Winsumerdiep dat door Winsum en Obergum loopt uit te graven, met afdamming van het te graven gedeelte. Het dam- en graafwerk werd toen gegund aan Pieter Cornelis de Jonge en de bouw van de brug aan Jan de Vries. Waterbouwkundige bij de bouw van de brug in 1941 was A. Dalmolen.

In bruin-rode klinker opgetrokken vaste BOOGBRUG met bovenin muurankers. Als sluitsteen heeft de boog aan de oostzijde het wapen van het waterschap Hunsingo. Op de brug aan weerszijden ijzeren leuningen, bestaande uit ijzeren pijlers waartussen twee buizen lopen, die op een rand van beton zijn geplaatst. De pijlers zijn met stangen aan de brug bevestigd. Over het brugdek loopt een klinkerweg. Een gemetselde trap met pad voert aan de westzijde vanaf de Winsumkant naar de kade beneden en wordt door een gemetseld muurtje met ijzeren leuning (identiek aan die van de brug) van het water gescheiden. In dit muurtje is de gevelsteen van de oude brug aangebracht: Gebouwd 1808.

The stone ARCH BRIDGE, nicknamed "de Boog", was built on the site of an older, identical bridge from 1808. A masoned staircase with a path leads on the west side from the Winsum side down to the quay and is separated from the water by a masoned wall with iron railing (identical to that of the bridge). In this wall is fitted the facade stone from the old bridge: Built 1808.
