Omschrijving onderdeel 7:
PORTIERSWONING 'DE KETTING'. Aan het begin van de rechte oprijlaan naar Houdringe is de portierswoning gelegen, gebouwd in 1902 door de timmerman J.Termaaten uit De Bilt in opdracht van G.H.L. baron van Boetzelaer. Het witgepleisterde pand met donkere plint heeft één bouwlaag met een kapverdieping en is gedeeltelijk onderkelderd. Aan de zuidzijde een opkamer die via een aparte opgang aan de voorzijde van het pand bereikbaar is. Tussen twee muurtjes bevindt zich een trap van vijf treden die naar een klein bordes met de deur leidt. Op de muurtjes aan weerszijden van het bordes zijn bankjes geplaatst. De voorgevel (west) heeft een risalerend middengedeelte met een ver overstekend rieten zadeldak dat de hoofdkap, eveneens een rieten zadeldak, haaks snijdt. Aan de rechterzijde van de woning bevindt zich een uitbouw onder een lessenaarsdak. Het pand heeft verschillende venstervormen, die alle zijn voorzien van roeden en deels van halve luiken. Het kelderlicht is beveiligd met diefijzers.

PORTER'S LODGE 'DE KETTING'. At the beginning of the straight drive to Houdringe is located the porter's lodge, built in 1902 by the carpenter J.Termaaten from De Bilt on behalf of G.H.L. baron van Boetzelaer. The whitewashed building with dark plinth has one storey with a roof chamber and is partially cellared. On the south side an upper storey room which is accessible via a separate entrance on the front of the building. Between two small walls is a staircase of five steps leading to a small landing with the door. On the small walls on either side of the landing are benches placed. The front facade (west) has a projecting middle section with a far-overhanging thatched gabled roof that intersects the main roof, also a thatched gabled roof, at right angles. On the right side of the lodge is an extension under a lean-to roof. The building has various window forms, all provided with glazing bars and partly with half shutters. The cellar light is secured with security bars.
