Omschrijving
(op de bijbehorende kaart aangegeven met nr.2) HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de buitenplaats Spaensweerd. Eenvoudige en kleinschalige aanleg in landschapsstijl, vanwege de hoge ligging is het park een belangrijk groen element in het vlakke weidelandschap van de uiterwaarden van de IJssel. Rond het midden van de negentiende eeuw is een gebogen toegangslaan vanuit de noordhoek van de aanleg naar het huis aangelegd, deze heeft een eenzijdige laanbeplanting met beuken (de andere zijde is in WOII gekapt). De gebogen laan diende ter vervanging van de oude, 18de-eeuwse toegangslaan, die loodrecht op de as van het huis was gesitueerd. Rechts van de laan ligt een parkbosje met een ovaalvormige vijver waaraan enkele solitairen (treurbeuk en plataan) staan. Voor het huis is in het begin van de twintigste eeuw een verdiepte neo-geometrische tuin aangelegd waarvan de bakstenen keermuur, trapjes en buxusbollen nog resteren. Vanuit het huis loopt een zichtas over het gazon naar het huis de Wijde Landen aan de overzijde van de Bronkhorsterweg. Langs de genoemde weg staat een enkele rij linden. Achter het huis ligt een vrij open, rondvormige aanleg met zichtlijnen naar het omringende landschap en de IJssel. Een recent gebouwde pergola dient als overgang naar de moestuin. Twee bakstenen pijlers uit het begin van de twintigste eeuw, thans opgenomen als onderdeel van de pergola, vormden de oorspronkelijke doorgang. Aansluitend het vrij dicht geplante terrein rondom het stalgebouw met woning. Een moestuin en een omhaagd weiland maken deel uit van deze aanleg. In de moestuin staat een kas op een hoog bakstenen fundament.
Waardering HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de buitenplaats Spaensweerd van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de eenvoudige aanleg in landschapsstijl uit de 19de-eeuw, waarin enkele neo-formele elementen uit het begin van de 20ste-eeuw nog te herkennen zijn;
- vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging als vertikaal groenelement in het weidelandschap;
- vanwege de visueel-ruimtelijke samenhang met de andere onderdelen van de buitenplaats.

Description
(indicated on the accompanying map with no.2) HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the country estate Spaensweerd. Simple and small-scale landscape-style layout; due to its high position the park is an important green element in the flat meadowland landscape of the IJssel flood plains. Around the middle of the nineteenth century a curved entrance drive was laid out from the north corner of the layout to the house; this has a one-sided avenue of beeches (the other side was felled in WWII). The curved drive served to replace the old, 18th-century entrance drive, which was situated perpendicular to the axis of the house. To the right of the drive lies a parkwood with an oval-shaped pond on which several solitary trees stand (weeping beech and plane tree). In front of the house a sunken neo-geometric garden was laid out in the early twentieth century, of which the brick retaining wall, steps and box balls still remain. From the house a sight line runs over the lawn towards the house de Wijde Landen on the other side of the Bronkhorsterweg. Along the mentioned road stands a single row of linden trees. Behind the house lies a relatively open, circular layout with sight lines towards the surrounding landscape and the IJssel. A recently built pergola serves as a transition to the kitchen garden. Two brick pillars from the early twentieth century, now incorporated as part of the pergola, formed the original passage. Adjoining is the densely planted area around the stable building with dwelling. A kitchen garden and a fenced pasture form part of this layout. In the kitchen garden stands a greenhouse on a high brick foundation.
