Omschrijving
(op de bijbehorende kaart aangegeven met nr.1) HOOFDGEBOUW (Spaensweerd). Blokvormig witgepleisterd huis op donkere plint gebouwd in neoclassicistische stijl in ca.1835, doch in de kern 17de-eeuws. Het op rechthoekige grondslag opgetrokken pand bestaat uit twee bouwlagen onder een met rode Oud-Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak. In het midden van de nok staat een neogotisch klokkentorentje en op de nokeinden een gemetselde schoorsteen. De symmetrische zeven-assige voorgevel kent een middenrisaliet van drie traveëen, dat is afgewerkt met een triglyfenlijst waarboven een attiek. In het midden bevindt zich de toegangsdeur met rechthoekig bovenlicht gevat in een eenvoudige pilasteromlijsting, waarboven een vierruits schuifvenster en een dakkapel onder een driehoekig fronton. De overige vensterassen hebben een schuifvenster op de begane grond en een vierruits schuifvenster op de verdieping. Alle vensters zijn voorzien van persiennes. De achtergevel heeft in het midden een breed uitstekende middenrisaliet van drie traveeën met aan weerszijden rechthoekige uitbouwen. Centraal in het risaliet de uitgebouwde achteringang waarboven een balkon met meerruits balkondeuren. De ingang wordt geflankeerd door openslaande meerruitstuindeuren met persiennes op de begane grond en zesruits schuifvensters met persiennes op de verdieping. In de dakgevel drie dakkapellen bekroond door een driehoekig fronton. De rechter uitbouw omvat een serre, die mogelijk diende als oranjerie. De serre bestaat uit één bouwlaag onder een platdak (balkon) en wordt geleed door pilasters waartussen tuindeuren met gietijzeren roedenverdeling. In ca.1871 is de serre vergroot en met een houten loggia uitgebreid. De linker uitbouw wordt gevormd door een bijkeuken van één bouwlaag onder een met Oud-Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak. De zijgevels zijn vrij regelmatig van opzet met meerruitsvensters en enkele deuren. In het INTERIEUR zijn ondermeer de stucplafonds in Empire-stijl (serre, eetkamer, voorkamer) van belang.
Waardering HOOFDGEBOUW (Spaensweerd) van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de eenvoudige architectonische vormgeving in neoclassicistische stijl uit de eerste helft van de 19de-eeuw;
- vanwege stucplafonds in Empire-stijl in het interieur;

Description
(indicated on the accompanying map with no.1) MAIN BUILDING (Spaensweerd). Block-shaped whitewashed house on dark plinth built in neoclassical style around 1835, but with a 17th-century core. The building erected on a rectangular ground plan consists of two storeys under a hipped roof covered with red Dutch-bond tiles. In the centre of the ridge stands a neo-Gothic bell turret and on the ridge ends a brick chimney. The symmetrical seven-bay front facade has a central risalit of three bays, finished with a triglyph cornice above which an attic storey. In the centre is the entrance door with rectangular fanlight set in a simple pilaster frame, above which a four-pane sash window and a roof dormer under a triangular pediment. The remaining window bays have a sash window on the ground floor and a four-pane sash window on the upper floor. All windows are provided with shutters. The rear facade has a projecting central risalit of three bays in the middle with rectangular extensions on either side. Centrally in the risalit the projecting rear entrance with a balcony above with multi-pane double doors. The entrance is flanked by opening multi-pane garden doors with shutters on the ground floor and six-pane sash windows with shutters on the upper floor. In the gable wall three roof dormers crowned with a triangular pediment. The right extension includes a conservatory, possibly serving as an orangery. The conservatory consists of one storey under a flat roof (balcony) and is articulated by pilasters between which are garden doors with cast iron glazing bars. Around 1871 the conservatory was enlarged and extended with a wooden loggia. The left extension is formed by a scullery of one storey under a hipped roof covered with Dutch-bond tiles. The side facades are fairly regularly arranged with multi-pane windows and some doors. In the INTERIOR the stucco ceilings in Empire style (conservatory, dining room, parlour) are of importance.
