Omschrijving complexonderdeel 1

Description of complex component 1

Detached COUNTRY HOUSE of three storeys on a complex ground plan under a flat roof, built in 1872. All facade sides are white rendered with two black-lined horizontal bands between the storeys and fluted pilasters on the corners. Just below the facade ends an overhanging moulding on consoles is set which closes off the facades. The windows in the facades are almost all sash windows with the exception of the added third storey in which casement windows are set. All windows in the first and second storeys are provided with straight eyebrow lintels. The aforementioned details date from the first building phase.

The original building volume of the country house comprises the following extent: the front facade on the east side is symmetrically laid out and consists of five window bays. In front of the facade is a stone step of two treads high. The main entrance is placed on the central axis, above which a balcony is set that is supported by two stone columns on the corners. The shaft of the columns has a large entasis. The balcony is a later addition but on the grounds of its detailing falls under national monument protection. The entrance section is accentuated on both sides by a pilaster with imitation joints over two storeys. In the second storey on the central axis there is a casement door which provides access to the balcony. On either side of this there are two windows. The third storey is an addition from 1966 and together with the large composite sash window on the left side is of subsidiary importance.

The north gable likewise has a symmetrical layout and arrangement of three window bays. On the central axis there is a three-sided bay with bevelled corners over three storeys. Originally the bay had one storey above which a balcony was set. Therefore the second and third storeys of the bay are of subsidiary importance. On either side of the bay a window is placed. The rear facade on the west side has a rectangular extension placed in the centre. To the left of this extension is the extension from 1966. The aforementioned extension and addition are of subsidiary importance. The entire original south facade is barely visible due to the extensions. Two short wings of three storeys are built against the facade which are of subsidiary importance for the protection. Between the two wings a part of the original bay with a three-light window can still be seen. Behind this was the original staircase.
