Omschrijving
Het GRAFMONUMENT is geplaatst op een vierkant basement van drie lagen hardsteen.
Het monument is een hardstenen obelisk op een tombe, waarin aan voor- en achterkant rechthoekige plaquette's met opschriften zijn aangebracht. In de obelisk zelf is aan de voorkant (Z) een rond marmeren medaillon met een portret ( van Gerhard Heinrich van Senden) aangebracht. Het opschrift aan de voorkant (Z) luidt: "Aan Gerhard Heinrich van Senden, Theol. Doctor en van 1832 tot 1851 Predikant bij de ned. herv. Gemeente te Zwolle"Het opschrift aan de achterkant (N): "Hulde van zijn leerlingen, vrienden en hoogschatters"Boven de plaquette aan de voorzijde, liggend op de tombe is een bijbel uitgehouwen, met het volgende vers: "Hebreen XII, Vers 89 Zijt gekomen tot de berg Sion en de stad des lebenden Gods, tot hemelsche Jeruzalem"Rond het portret zijn in de hardsteen reliëfs uitgehouwen van de slang die zichzelf in de staart bijt, een palmtak en een lauriertak. Op de hoeken van de obelisk zijn op deze hoogte geschriftrollen in zandsteen uitgehouwen en aan de achterzijde een anker in een stralenkrans.

The GRAVE MONUMENT is placed on a square basement of three layers of sandstone.
The monument is a sandstone obelisk on a tomb, in which rectangular plaques with inscriptions are affixed on front and back. In the obelisk itself a round marble medallion with a portrait (of Gerhard Heinrich van Senden) is affixed on the front (S). The inscription on the front (S) reads: "To Gerhard Heinrich van Senden, Theol. Doctor and from 1832 to 1851 Minister at the Dutch Reformed Community in Zwolle"The inscription on the back (N): "Tribute from his pupils, friends and admirers"Above the plaque on the front, lying on the tomb is a bible carved out, with the following verse: "Hebrews XII, Verse 89 Ye are come unto mount Sion and unto the city of the living God, unto the heavenly Jerusalem"Around the portrait are carved in relief in the sandstone the serpent biting its own tail, a palm frond and a laurel frond. On the corners of the obelisk at this height scroll stones are carved in sandstone and on the back side an anchor in a radiant wreath.
