Inleiding
De op het landgoed Heidestein gelegen drie tunnels zijn tussen 1907 en 1926 opgetrokken in opdracht van jonkheer De Wetstein Pfister, die in deze periode eigenaar was van het landgoed. De wal en de vijver bij de tunnels zouden volgens overlevering als een project ter bestrijding van de werkloosheid zijn uitgegraven. De tunnels zijn vervaardigd in beton, een materiaal wat vaker op het terrein werd toegepast, zoals bijvoorbeeld bij het theehuis en de bruggen. De functie van de tunnels is verschillend:

De loop en functie van de tunnels is verschillend.
