Omschrijving
Een nabij de grote vijver gelegen samengesteld object bestaande uit een IJSKELDER, WATERRESERVOIR en TUINHUIS. De ijskelder is in de aarden wal aangelegd. Het exterieur aan de noord- of voorzijde bestaat uit een frontmuur met aflopende zijmuren. Op de middenas bevindt zich een getoogde ingang die door een smeedijzeren spijlenhek wordt afgesloten. De muur boven de ingang is met kantelen bekroond.
Het interieur van de ijskelder bestaat uit een zes meter hoge ruimte die wordt afgedekt door een tongewelf. In het midden bevindt zich in de vloer een ijzeren rooster dat via een afvoerpijp aansluiting biedt op de vijver.
Boven de ijskelder, op de aarden wal is een bouwmassa op rechthoekige plattegrond gezet die dienst deed als waterreservoir. Dit reservoir bestaat uit één bouwlaag onder een plat dak. In de voor- en achtergevel is een luik geplaatst, terwijl de linker zijgevel een deur bevat die toegang geeft tot een trap naar het er boven gelegen tuinhuis.
Het tuinhuis is op het platte dak van het waterreservoir gezet, doch heeft een kleinere plattegrond. Het overgebleven plat fungeert als terras dat door een houten hek met sierspijlen is omgeven. Aan de zijde van de vijver is een uitstekend balkon aan te treffen. Het tuinhuis wordt afgedekt door elkaar kruisende, overstekende zadeldaken met gelijke dakhelling en met een bitumen afdekking. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in hout en bestaan uit geprofileerde houten stijlen en regels, waartussen diagonale kraaldelen zijn aangebracht. De daklijsten zijn versierd met makelaars en windveren met ajourwerk. De gevels bevatten gekoppelde houten roedenvensters. De aan de zijde van de vijver gelegen gevel bevat openslaande deuren die toegang geven tot het terras.
Waardering
Het tuinhuis annex ijskelder met waterreservoir is van cultuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bijzondere functie-combinatie. Voorts is het van architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de gaafheid en zeldzaamheid van het -gecombineerde- bouwtype, het materiaalgebruik, de bouwstijl en de detailleringen. Description
A composite object located near the large pond consisting of an ICE HOUSE, WATER RESERVOIR and GARDEN HOUSE. The ice house is constructed within the earth embankment. The exterior on the north or front side consists of a front wall with descending side walls. On the central axis is situated a segmental arched entrance which is closed off by a wrought iron railings gate. The wall above the entrance is crowned with crenellations.
The interior of the ice house consists of a six-metre high space which is covered by a barrel vault. In the middle of the floor is an iron grating which via a drainage pipe provides a connection to the pond.
Above the ice house, on the earth embankment is a building mass on a rectangular plan which served as a water reservoir. This reservoir consists of one storey beneath a flat roof. In the front and rear facades a hatch is placed, while the left side facade contains a door which provides access to a staircase leading to the garden house located above it.
The garden house is placed on the flat roof of the water reservoir, but has a smaller plan. The remaining flat serves as a terrace which is surrounded by a wooden fence with decorative railings. On the side of the pond is a projecting balcony. The garden house is covered by intersecting, projecting gabled roofs with equal roof pitch and with bitumen covering. The facades are constructed in timber and consist of profiled wooden posts and rails, between which diagonal beading is incorporated. The roof cornices are decorated with dentils and barge boards with pierced work. The facades contain paired wooden glazing bar windows. The facade on the side of the pond contains opening doors which provide access to the terrace.
Valuation
The garden house with ice house and water reservoir is of cultural-historical value due to the exceptional functional combination. Furthermore it is of architectural-historical value due to the integrity and rarity of the combined building type, the use of materials, the building style and the detailing. The location within and on the sand embankment by the pond in the still intact complex of Heidestein confers on the object its ensemble value.
