Omschrijving
Het MAUSOLEUM van de familie Bentinck van Amerongen, graaf van Aldenburg, werd in 1927 opgetrokken in neoclassicistische stijl in de vorm van een tempel. Het is gelegen aan de oost-zijde van de begraafplaats, in de uitbreiding van 1925, op het einde van de west-oostas.
De tempel telt één bouwlaag onder een flauw hellend zinken zadeldak met de nok evenwijdig aan de Rijksstraatweg. Het is opgetrokken uit baksteen met hardstenen hoeklisenen.
De voorgevel of westgevel bevat de entree bestaande uit een stolpende bronzen paneeldeur met geprofileerde architraaf.
Ervoor dragen, boven drie treden, vier Ionische zuilen het hoofdgestel met fronton en een timpaan bestaande uit natuurstenen blokken. Ervoor ligt een voorhof omgeven door een gietijzeren hekwerk met geometrisch patroon tussen bakstenen pijlers met hardstenen afdekplaten. In het hekwerk zijn rozetten aangebracht. De rechter en linker zijgevel bevatten elk gekoppelde vensters. De achtergevel is blind.
Rond de tempel staat een beplanting bestaande uit coniferen,taxus en een den.
Waardering
Het mausoleum is van cultuurhistorische waarde vanwege de funeraire geschiedenis en de band van de familie Bentinck met de gemeente Amerongen. Voorts is het van architectuurhistorische waarde als gaaf voorbeeld van een bouwtype. Tenslotte is het object van ensemblewaarde vanwege de ligging op de algemene begraafplaats.

Description
The MAUSOLEUM of the Bentinck van Amerongen family, Count of Aldenburg, was erected in 1927 in neoclassicistic style in the form of a temple. It is located on the east side of the cemetery, in the 1925 extension, at the end of the west-east axis.
The temple comprises one storey under a shallow-pitched zinc gabled roof with the ridge parallel to the Rijksstraatweg. It is built of brick with hardstone corner lisenes.
The front facade or west facade contains the entrance consisting of a stolping bronze panel door with moulded architrave.
In front of it, above three steps, four Ionic columns carry the main entablature with pediment and a tympanum consisting of natural stone blocks. In front of it lies a forecourt surrounded by cast iron railings with a geometric pattern between brick piers with hardstone capping plates. Rosettes are incorporated in the railings. The right and left side facades each contain paired windows. The back facade is blank.
Around the temple stands planting consisting of conifers, yew and a pine tree.
Valuation
The mausoleum is of cultural-historical value because of its funerary history and the connection of the Bentinck family with the municipality of Amerongen. Furthermore, it is of architectural-historical value as a well-preserved example of a building type. Finally, the object is of ensemble value because of its location on the public cemetery.
