Omschrijving
De AANLEG van de evenwijdig aan de Rijksstraatweg en even hoog als de weg gelegen begraafplaats bestaat uit een rechthoekig perceel dat aan de oostzijde is afgerond. Het terrein wordt omgeven door een smeedijzeren spijlenhekwerk met een kleine entree aan de westzijde en een grote entree aan de noordzijde.
De entree aan de noordzijde bestaat uit twee hekpijlers van baksteen met geblokte lisenen en natuurstenen voeten en bekroningen. Hiertussen is een stolpend ijzeren hek geplaatst. Het ontwerp van de plattegrond bestaat uit een rechthoekigstelsel van vakken, doorsneden door paden. Het hoofdpad loopt van noord naar zuid vanaf de hoofdentree aan de Rijksstraatwegen komt uit bij het baarhuisje dat iets uit het midden geplaatst is. Dit pad wordt geflankeerd door coniferen. Een tweede hoofdpad loopt van west naar oost en vangt aan bij de entree in het westen en leidt naar het grafmonument van de Van Reede's. Het pad loopt na deze onderbreking door vanuit de noord-zuid as en komt uit op de graftempel van de familie Van Aldenburg Bentinck.
Ter weerszijden van de oost-west as bevinden zich rechthoekige vakken die voorzien zijn van hardstenen nummerpaaltjes en een invulling van graven. In de westelijk van het hoofdpad gelegen vakken zijn nauwelijks graven gesitueerd. De oostelijker gelegen vakken bevatten meer graven, waaronder verschillende met hekwerk en staande stèles. Rond de graftempel bevinden zich recentere graven die, het hekwerk volgend, in een halve cirkelvorm aan de achterzijde van de tempel gelegen zijn. Aan de westzijde van het hoofdpad, ter weerszijden van het graf van de familie Van Reede, ligt een rij voorname graven.
De coniferen werken hier als coulissen.
De beplanting is sober en omvat enkele beuken en de genoemde coniferen. Om de graftempel is een beplanting bestaande uithulst en andere heesters aangebracht.
De omgeving van de begraafplaats kenmerkt zich door een lager gelegen weidegebied aan de zuidkant. De hellingen zijn met eikehakhout beplant. Aan de oost- en westzijde bevindt zich bos. Aan de noordkant, aan de overzijde van de Rijksstraatweg, is een beukenlaan gelegen die voert naar de Amerongse berg. De graftempel ligt in de zichtas van deze laan.
Waardering
De aanleg van de begraafplaats is van cultuurhistorisch belang vanwege de funeraire geschiedenis alsmede van architectuur-historische waarde vanwege de stijl en gaafheid in combinatie met de binnen de aanleg aanwezige grafmonumenten. Het is voorts van ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van de Amerongse berg.

Description
The LAYOUT of the cemetery, situated parallel to the Rijksstraatweg and at the same level as the road, consists of a rectangular plot which is rounded at the east side. The site is surrounded by wrought iron railings with a small entrance at the west side and a large entrance at the north side.
The entrance at the north side consists of two brick gate piers with blocked pilasters and natural stone bases and caps. Between these a strutting iron gate is placed. The design of the ground plan consists of a rectangular system of bays, intersected by paths. The main path runs from north to south from the main entrance at the Rijksstraatwegen and ends at the mortuary chapel which is positioned slightly off-centre. This path is flanked by conifers. A second main path runs from west to east and begins at the entrance in the west and leads to the burial monument of the Van Reede family. The path continues after this interruption from the north-south axis and ends at the funerary temple of the Van Aldenburg Bentinck family.
On either side of the east-west axis are rectangular bays which are provided with hardstone number posts and a filling of graves. In the bays situated west of the main path, graves are scarcely situated. The bays situated further east contain more graves, including various with railings and standing stelae. Around the funerary temple there are more recent graves which, following the railings, are situated in a semi-circular form at the rear of the temple. On the west side of the main path, on either side of the grave of the Van Reede family, lies a row of distinguished graves.
The conifers here serve as backdrop plantings.
The planting is restrained and includes some beeches and the mentioned conifers. Around the funerary temple a planting has been applied consisting of holly and other shrubs.
The surroundings of the cemetery are characterized by a lower-lying meadow area on the south side. The slopes are planted with oak coppice. On the east and west sides there is woodland. On the north side, on the other side of the Rijksstraatweg, is a beech avenue which leads to the Amerongse berg. The funerary temple lies in the sight line of this avenue.
Valuation
The layout of the cemetery is of cultural-historical significance because of funerary history and of architectural-historical value because of its style and integrity in combination with the burial monuments present within the layout. It is furthermore of ensemble value as part of the Amerongse berg.
