Inleiding:
MOLENAARSHUIS uit het vierde kwart van de 19e eeuw. De bijbehorende molen, die aan de Wanroijseweg stond, is in 1950 afgebroken. Het molenaarshuis bestaat uit twee gedeelten. Het heeft een T-vormige plattegrond. Het woongedeelte in het voorhuis ligt aan de straat en het bedrijfsgedeelte in het achterhuis. De voor- of oostgevel staat aan de Schoolstraat.
Omschrijving:
Het eenlaags woonhuis is symmetrisch van opzet, vijf traveeën breed, onder schilddak. Het dak is aan de voorkant gedekt met grijze oud-Hollandse pannen, aan de achterkant liggen kruispannen. Voordeur geflankeerd door telkens twee vensters. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit handgevormde baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband. Fries met siermetselwerk en profielstenen, geblokte hoekpilasters. Muuropeningen met getoogde hanekammen, ramen voorzien van zesruitsschuifvensters en luiken. Ingangspartij met geprofileerde cementen lijst. Het huis heeft een cementen plint met ornamenten en een gietijzeren goot. Beide kopgevels hebben op de zolderverdieping vierruitsschuifvensters. Bovendien heeft de noordelijke kopgevel een laaddeur naar de zolder. In de gang van het huis schilderwerk uit 1923 van Hein Martens. Eiken geschilderde lambrizering met hierboven op de wanden sjabloon randschildering in Jugendstil. Boven de deuren vier Millet replica's: schilderingen voorstellende het Angeles klept; het lezen van de aren; landschappen van herfst en winter. In de gang ook nog een schildering van de molen van Mill. Verder heeft het interieur onder andere stucwerkplafonds met rand, twee marmeren schouwen en een fraaie houten trap. In het bedrijfsgedeelte, dat eveneens een schilddak heeft en gedekt met oud-Hollandse pannen heeft twee poorten met korfboog en gietijzeren stalramen.
Waardering:
Het molenaarshuis is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de laat negentiende-eeuwse typologische ontwikkeling van het woonhuis voor de middenstand. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de eenvoudige maar harmonische detaillering in traditionele trant en vanwege de samenhang met het gave interieur met onder meer lambrizeringen en schilderingen, de laatste een relatief late uiting van de Jugendstil. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en als zodanig zeldzaam.

MILLER'S HOUSE from the fourth quarter of the 19th century. The associated mill, which stood on the Wanroijseweg, was demolished in 1950. The miller's house consists of two sections. It has a T-shaped floor plan. The residential section in the front house is situated on the street and the business section in the rear house. The front or east facade faces Schoolstraat.
Description:
The single-storey residential house is symmetrically designed, five bays wide, under a hipped roof. The roof is covered on the front with grey old-Dutch tiles, at the rear with interlocking tiles. Front door flanked by two windows on either side. The structure consists of hand-moulded brick laid in a header and stretcher bond. Frieze with decorative brickwork and moulded stones, rusticated corner pilasters. Wall openings with arched headers, windows fitted with six-pane sash windows and shutters. Entrance section with moulded cement moulding. The house has a cement plint with ornaments and a cast-iron gutter. Both end gables have four-pane sash windows on the attic floor. Furthermore, the northern end gable has a loading door to the attic. In the hall of the house paintwork from 1923 by Hein Martens. Oak-painted wainscoting with above it stencilled border painting in Jugendstil on the walls. Above the doors four Millet replicas: paintings depicting the Angeles klept; the reading of the ears; landscapes of autumn and winter. In the hall also a painting of the mill of Mill. Furthermore, the interior has among other things stuccoed ceilings with border, two marble mantels and a fine wooden staircase. In the business section, which likewise has a hipped roof and is covered with old-Dutch tiles, there are two doors with a basket arch and cast-iron stable windows.
Valuation:
The miller's house is of general importance because of its cultural-historical value as an example of the late 19th-century typological development of the residential house for the middle class. It has architectural-historical value because of its simple but harmonious detailing in traditional style and because of its harmony with the well-preserved interior with among other things wainscoting and paintings, the latter a relatively late expression of Jugendstil. It has been preserved intact and as such is rare.
