Inleiding
Voormalige BOERDERIJ op T-vormige plattegrond uit 1878. Naast een boerenbedrijf waren hier vroeger een smederij en café gehuisvest, nu twee woningen. De voor- of oostgevel van de boerderij ligt aan de Schoolstraat, de noordgevel aan de burgemeester Verstraatenlaan. De boerderij bestaat uit een voor- en een achterhuis. In het voorhuis, dat met de lange gevel aan de straat staat, wordt gewoond. In het noordelijk gedeelte ervan bevond zich de gelagkamer van het café en een gedeelte van het bedrijf. De stal en schuur liggen in het achterhuis. Dit staat met zijn nok loodrecht op de straat. Jaartalsteen met inscriptie: MHVH 15.7.1878.
Omschrijving
Het voorhuis van de voormalige boerderij ligt onder een wolfdak gedekt met oud-Hollandse pannen. De voorgevel is symmetrisch, ze is vijf traveeën breed. De getoogde muuropeningen zijn voorzien van zesruits schuifvensters. In de noordwesthoek van het voorhuis bevinden zich twee dichtgemetselde korfbogige stal- en/of deeldeuren. Het achterhuis heeft eveneens een wolfdak gedekt met oud-Hollandse pannen. Zowel in de noord- als in de zuidmuur bevinden zich korfbogige deeldeuren. Gietijzeren stalramen met spinkop. In het achterhuis een eiken gebint. Het opgaande werk van de boerderij bestaat uit handvorm baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband met een gebouchardeerde cementen plint. Onder de dakrand is de tandlijst uitgevoerd in polychroom siermetselwerk. Het voorhuis heeft in het noordwestelijk deel een kelder met stenen gewelf; de kelder is in 2001 afgesloten en niet meer toegankelijk. In de keuken een schouwboezem en een voormalige bedstede, de bedstede bevat glazen bovenkastjes met een drielicht en roedenverdeling met driepasboog.
Waardering
De voormalige boerderij uit 1878 is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de laat negentiende-eeuwse typologische ontwikkeling van het Brabantse boerderijtype binnen de geschiedenis van de Peel. Former FARMHOUSE on T-shaped floor plan from 1878. Besides a farm business, a blacksmith's shop and café were formerly housed here, now two dwellings. The front or east facade of the farmhouse faces the Schoolstraat, the north facade the burgemeester Verstraatenlaan. The farmhouse consists of a front and rear house. In the front house, which stands with its long facade facing the street, people live. In the northern part of it was the taproom of the café and part of the business. The stable and barn lie in the rear house. This stands with its ridge perpendicular to the street. Date stone with inscription: MHVH 15.7.1878.
Description
The front house of the former farmhouse lies beneath a half-hipped roof covered with old-Dutch pantiles. The front facade is symmetrical, it is five bays wide. The arched wall openings are provided with six-pane sash windows. In the north-west corner of the front house two bricked-up basket-arch stable and/or double doors are located. The rear house also has a half-hipped roof covered with old-Dutch pantiles. Basket-arch double doors are located in both the north and south wall. Cast iron stable windows with spindle head. In the rear house an oak timber frame. The walling of the farmhouse consists of hand-formed brick laid in cross bond with a bush-hammered cement plinth. Below the roof edge the tooth course is executed in polychrome decorative brickwork. The front house has in its north-western part a cellar with stone vault; the cellar was sealed in 2001 and is no longer accessible. In the kitchen a chimney chamber and a former bed-closet, the bed-closet contains glazed upper cupboards with a three-light and glazing bars with trefoil arch.
Appreciation
The former farmhouse from 1878 is of general importance because of the cultural-historical value as an example of the late nineteenth-century typological development of the Brabant farmhouse type within the history of the Peel. The object has architectural-historical value because of the simple but harmonious detailing in traditional manner, as well as because of the preserved internal structure and it contributes to the experience of the historic village townscape a substantial aspect because of the intact preserved appearance, which implies rarity value.
