Inleiding
LAGERE SCHOOL voor meisjes, in 1925-1926 gebouwd in Interbellum-architectuur. Naast de hoofdingang de gedenksteen van de eerste steenlegging op 16 september 1925. Aan de oostzijde is, vermoedelijk kort na de bouw, een extra lokaal en een kolenhok bijgebouwd in dezelfde stijl als de rest van de school.
De buitentrap aan de oostgevel van de noordelijke vleugel komt niet voor bescherming in aanmerking.
Omschrijving
Het SCHOOLGEBOUW heeft een vrijwel rechthoekige plattegrond met een middenrisaliet aan de voorgevel (noord). Het pand is één bouwlaag en een kap hoog. Het is geheel opgetrokken uit baksteen en voorzien van siermetselwerk, onder andere verticaal metselwerk.
De voorgevel is een langsgevel met een middenrisaliet met puntgevel. In de risaliet de ingangspartij met gemetselde, geprofileerde dagkanten, betonnen luifel en dubbele houten toegangsdeur. Aan weerszijden van de ingangspartij een houten schuifraam met roedeverdeling. Boven de ingangspartij een vlak met siermetselwerk met "Mariaschool". In de top van de puntgevel een houten venster met roedeverdeling en siermetselwerkbanden. Aan weerszijden van de risaliet een langsgevel met een houten venster en vier kleine vierkante raampjes en tegen de risaliet een bakstenen bloemenbak. In de westelijke kopgevel een zij-ingang.
De zuidelijke langsgevel heeft een reeks grote, gekoppelde vensters gedeeltelijk met de originele roedeverdeling in de onderramen en roedeverdeling in de bovenramen. Aan de oostzijde bevindt zich een later aangebouwd lokaal, één bouwlaag hoog met plat dak en voorzien van gekoppelde vensters.
Het pand heeft een afgewolfd zadeldak met overstek en de risaliet is voorzien van een zadeldak eveneens met overstek, alle gedekt met rode tuile du nord pannen, gemetselde schoorstenen en pironnen.
Het interieur is grotendeels origineel met onder meer in gang tegelvloer, tegellambrisering met meerdere tegels met personificaties van onder meer deugden: kapstokken, deuren, eenvoudige stucplafonds, ingebouwde kasten.
Waardering
SCHOOLGEBOUW van cultuurhistorische waarde, van waarde vanwege gaafheid en detaillering en als onderdeel van het complex.

Description
The SCHOOL BUILDING has an almost rectangular plan with a central projection on the front facade (north). The building is one storey and attic high. It is entirely constructed of brick and fitted with decorative brickwork, amongst other vertical brickwork.
The front facade is a longitudinal facade with a central projection with pointed gable. In the projection the entrance section with mortared, moulded daylight openings, concrete canopy and double wooden entrance door. On either side of the entrance section a wooden sash window with glazing bars. Above the entrance section a panel with decorative brickwork with "Mariaschool". In the apex of the pointed gable a wooden window with glazing bars and decorative brickwork bands. On either side of the projection a longitudinal facade with a wooden window and four small square panes and against the projection a brick flowerbed. In the western gable a side entrance.
The southern longitudinal facade has a series of large, coupled windows partly with the original glazing bars in the lower panes and glazing bars in the upper panes. On the east side there is a later added classroom, one storey high with flat roof and fitted with coupled windows.
The building has a curved saddle roof with overhang and the projection is fitted with a saddle roof also with overhang, all covered with red tuile du nord tiles, mortared chimneys and roof cresting.
The interior is largely original with amongst other in hallway tiled floor, tile wainscoting with multiple tiles with personifications of amongst other virtues: coat racks, doors, simple stucco ceilings, built-in cupboards.

SCHOOL BUILDING of cultural historical value, of value for integrity and detailing and as part of the complex.
