Inleiding
Woonhuis, oorspronkelijk in gebruik als pastorie van de Doopsgezinde gemeente Meppel, gebouwd rond 1895 in een eclectische stijl. De opbouw met souterrain is karakteristiek voor deze buurt vanwege het toenmalige overstromingsgevaar van de rivier de Reest.
Omschrijving
Vrijstaand woonhuis in baksteen opgetrokken en gedekt door een schilddak belegd met tuile du nord (voorste dakschild) en hollandse pannen (zijschilden). Gepleisterde plint, souterrain met blokbepleistering voorzien van drie getoogde vensters met smeedijzeren sierhekwerk. Asymmetrisch geplaatste natuurstenen trap naar portiek; paneeldeur voorzien van gietijzeren sierrooster en bovenlicht. Vensters en portiek voorzien van gepleisterde geprofileerde omlijsting en architraaf met medaillon waarin leeuwenkop. Het licht uitspringende en verhoogde middenstuk heeft een balkon op bewerkte consoles; sierhek; openslaande deuren met omlijsting. Boven op verhoogde middenstuk een dakkapel met rondlicht. Vrij gesloten zijgevels waarin staafankers. Topgevel aan achterzijde met een eenvoudige opbouw.

Residential house, originally in use as a manse of the Mennonite congregation Meppel, built around 1895 in an eclectic style. The superstructure with basement is characteristic for this neighbourhood due to the then danger of flooding from the river Reest.

Detached residential house built in brick and covered by a hipped roof laid with tuile du nord (front roof slope) and Dutch tiles (side roof slopes). Rendered plinth, basement with block rendering provided with three arched windows with wrought iron ornamental grilles. Asymmetrically placed natural stone stair to porch; panelled door provided with cast iron ornamental grille and fanlight. Windows and porch provided with rendered profiled surround and architrave with medallion containing lion's head. The lightly projecting and raised central section has a balcony on worked consoles; ornamental railing; French doors with surround. Above on raised central section a roof dormer with circular light. Freely closed side gables in which rod anchors. Gable on rear side with a simple superstructure.
