Inleiding
Dit herenhuis maakt deel uit van een rij laat-19e-eeuwse herenhuizen in eclectische trant, die samen een deel vormen van de gesloten gevelwand die in de jaren zeventig van de 19de eeuw is aangelegd op de geslechte stadswallen. De achterzijden van de woningen grenzen aan de stadsgracht en het grondgebied van de villa Rams Woerthe. De panden omvatten twee bouwlagen op een souterrain, gescheiden door cordonlijsten en worden gedekt door een schilddak. De gevels hebben getoogde gevelopeningen en worden beëindigd door een kroonlijst. Kornputsingel 26 vormt één geheel met het eveneens beschermde pand Kornputsingel 28.
Omschrijving Vier (nr. 26) en drie (nr. 28) assen breed dubbel woonhuis onder één met pannen belegd afgeknot schilddak, gepleisterde plint, originele deuren en op de parterre getoogde vensters met profiellijsten en kuif. Op de verdieping eveneens getoogde vensters met een vlakke omlijsting. In de kap boven nr. 26 zit nog de originele houten dakkapel.
Het interieur van nr. 26 is voor een groot deel nog in oorspronkelijke staat. Het plafond in de gang is versierd met stucdecoraties. De gang wordt beëindigd door een achterdeur met geslepen en gekleurd glas in een roedenverdeling. Alle deuren zijn voorzien van profiellijsten. Beide vertrekken van de kamer en suite met schuifdeuren met kasten zijn voorzien van stucdecoraties, schouwen met zwart marmeren schoorsteenmantels met composietkapiteeltjes op gipsen pilasters. In de achterkamer bevinden zich twee dubbele deuren met schuifluiken. De dubbele korfboogopening in de gangmuur is voorzien van een gecanneleerd deelzuiltje, dat ook de aanzet is van een trap met gietijzeren trapspijlen. Op de zolder zijn nog twee meidenkamers aanwezig. De keuken in het souterrain heeft een plavuizen vloer en een schouw. Ook de originele waterpomp is nog aanwezig.
Waardering
Het pand maken deel uit van een gave laat-19e-eeuwse gevelwand met panden in eclectische stijl. Deze vormen als bebouwing van de voormalige stadswallen en in samenhang met tuin en bebouwing van de villa Rams Woerthe een zeer waardevol stedebouwkundig geheel en hebben derhalve grote stedebouwkundige en ensemblewaarde; de gaafheid en stilistische verscheidenheid maakt ze architectuur-historisch van belang.

This mansion is part of a row of late-19th-century mansions in eclectic style, which together form part of the closed facade wall laid out in the seventeen seventies of the 19th century on the razed city walls. The rear sides of the dwellings border on the city moat and the grounds of the villa Rams Woerthe. The properties comprise two storeys on a basement, separated by string courses and are covered by a hipped roof. The facades have arched window openings and are terminated by a cornice. Kornputsingel 26 forms one entity with the likewise protected property Kornputsingel 28.
Description
Four (no. 26) and three (no. 28) axis-wide double dwelling under one roof with tile-covered truncated hipped roof, plastered plinth, original doors and on the ground floor arched windows with profile mouldings and hood moulding. On the upper storey likewise arched windows with a flat frame. In the roof above no. 26 sits the original wooden dormer window.
The interior of no. 26 is still in large part in original condition. The ceiling in the corridor is decorated with stucco decorations. The corridor is terminated by a back door with cut and coloured glass in a glazing bar arrangement. All doors are provided with profile mouldings. Both rooms of the suite of rooms with sash doors with cupboards are provided with stucco decorations, fireplaces with black marble fireplace mantels with composite capitals on plaster pilasters. In the back room there are two double doors with sliding shutters. The double basket arch opening in the corridor wall is provided with a fluted pilaster shaft, which is also the spring of a staircase with cast-iron balusters. On the attic there are still two servant bedrooms. The kitchen in the basement has a tiled floor and a fireplace. The original water pump is also still present.

The property forms part of an intact late-19th-century facade wall with properties in eclectic style.
