Inleiding
Dit herenhuis maakt deel uit van een rij laat-19e-eeuwse herenhuizen in eclectische trant, die samen een deel vormen van de gesloten gevelwand die in de jaren zeventig van de 19de eeuw is aangelegd op de geslechte stadswallen. De achterzijden van de woningen grenzen aan de stadsgracht en het grondgebied van de villa Rams Woerthe. De panden omvatten twee bouwlagen op een souterrain, gescheiden door cordonlijsten en worden gedekt door een schilddak. De gevels hebben getoogde gevelopeningen en wor den beëindigd door een kroonlijst. Kornputsingel 24 vormt één geheel met het eveneens beschermde pand Kornputsingel 22.
Omschrijving
Helft van dubbel woonhuis onder één met pannen belegd afgeknot schilddak met twee dakkapellen met vleugelstukken. De voorgevel is drie traveeën breed. De gevel heeft een gepleisterde plint, cordonlijst en pilasters. De getoogde vensters zijn op de parterre voorzien van profiellijst en kuif, die op de verdieping zijn geplaatst onder verspringende segmentbogen. De deur m et gietijzeren vensterdecoratie is origineel. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een kroonlijst, voorzien van een fries met baksteendecoraties.
Het interieur is op de begane grond nog voor een deel in oorspronkelijke staat. De suite, met glas-in-lood schuifdeuren en ingebouwde portiekkasten, heeft in de voorkamer nog de oorspronkelijke schouw met corinthische kapiteeltjes op gecanneleerde houten hoekpilasters en een zwart marmeren schoorsteenmantel. De plafonds hebben nog de oorspronkelijke stucdecoraties. De vertrekken op de verdieping zijn voorzien van verlaagde plafonds, maar bezitten nog wel de originele paneeldeuren met houten deurknoppen binnen profiellijst. In één van de kamers bevindt zich een houten schoorsteenmantel.
Waardering
Het pand maakt deel uit van een gave laat-19e-eeuwse gevelwand met panden in eclectische stijl. Deze vormen als bebouwing van de voormalige stadswallen en in samenhang met tuin en bebouwing van de villa Rams Woerthe een zeer waardevol stedebouwkundig geheel en hebben der halve grote stedebouwkundige en ensemblewaarde; de gaafheid en stilistische verscheidenheid maakt ze architectuurhistorisch van belang.

This mansion is part of a row of late-19th-century mansions in eclectic style, which together form part of the closed facade wall laid out in the seventeen seventies of the 19th century on the razed city walls. The properties comprise two storeys on a basement, separated by string courses and are covered by a hipped roof. The facades have arched window openings and are terminated by a cornice. Kornputsingel 24 forms one entity with the likewise protected property Kornputsingel 22.
Description
Half of a double dwelling under one roof with tile-covered truncated hipped roof with two dormer windows with wing pieces. The front facade is three bays wide. The facade has a plastered plinth, string course and pilasters. The arched windows on the ground floor are provided with a profile moulding and hood moulding, which on the upper storey are placed beneath projecting segmental arches. The door with cast-iron window decoration is original. The facade is terminated by a cornice, provided with a frieze with brick decorations.
The interior on the ground floor is still partly in original condition. The suite, with leaded glass sash doors and built-in cupboards in the vestibule, has in the front room the original fireplace with Corinthian capitals on fluted wooden corner pilasters and a black marble fireplace mantel. The ceilings still have the original stucco decorations. The rooms on the upper storey are provided with lowered ceilings, but still possess the original panelled doors with wooden door knobs within profile moulding. In one of the rooms there is a wooden fireplace mantel.
