Inleiding
Dit herenhuis maakt deel uit van een rij laat-19e-eeuwse herenhuizen in eclectische trant, die samen een deel vormen van de gesloten gevelwand die in de jaren zeventig van de 19de eeuw is aangelegd op de geslechte stadswallen. De achterzijden van de woningen grenzen aan de stadsgracht en het grondgebied van de villa Rams Woerthe. De panden omvatten twee bouwlagen op een souterrain, gescheiden door cordonlijsten en worden gedekt door een schilddak. De gevels hebben getoogde gevelopeningen en worden beëindigd door een kroonlijst.
Kornputsingel 32 vormt één geheel met het eveneens beschermde pand Kornputsingel 34. Het interieur is ingrijpend gewijzigd.
Omschrijving
Rechterhelft van een twee maal drie assen breed dubbel woonhuis onder met pannen gedekt schilddak. De twee gevels zijn als één geheel gecomponeerd met risalerende eind-traveeën (rechts op nr. 32, links op nr. 34). De pilasters langs nr. 32, met verkropping in de kroonlijst (op de begane grond voorzien van bosseringen, op de verdieping van cassettes) zijn als begrenzende elementen in die compositie bedoeld, maar de linker op nr. 34 is niet uitgevoerd.
De gevel van nr. 32 heeft een gepleisterde plint, speklagen en een verdiepingenscheidende cordonlijst onder schilddak met dakkapel.
De pui van nr. 32 heeft in 1992 de oorspronkelijke indeling en detaillering teruggekregen. Alle vensters op de parterre hebben nu weer gekoppelde profiellijst met sluitsteen rondom de bovenlichten van de gevelopeningen. De vensters op de verdieping staan onder verspringende segmentbogen, gelijk die op de verdieping van nr. 22-24. Ook de kroonlijst met een fries met baksteendecoratie is identiek aan die van nr. 22-24. De dakkapellen zijn voorzien van vleugelstukken met voluten.
Waardering
Het pand maakt deel uit van een gave laat-19e-eeuwse gevelwand met panden in eclectische stijl. Deze vormen als bebouwing van de voormalige stadswallen en in samenhang met tuin en bebouwing van de villa Rams Woerthe een zeer waardevol stedebouwkundig geheel en hebben hebben derhalve grote stedebouwkundige en ensemblewaarde; de gaafheid en stilistische verscheidenheid maakt ze architectuurhistorisch van belang.

This townhouse forms part of a row of late 19th-century townhouses in eclectical style, which together constitute part of the closed facade wall laid out in the seventies of the 19th century on the demolished city walls. The rear sides of the dwellings border on the city moat and the grounds of the villa Rams Woerthe. The properties comprise two storeys on a basement, separated by cornice mouldings and covered by a hipped roof. The facades have arched window openings and are terminated by a cornice.
Kornputsingel 32 forms one whole with the likewise protected property Kornputsingel 34. The interior has been extensively altered.
Description
Right half of a double dwelling two by three bays wide, covered with a tiled hipped roof. The two facades are composed as one whole with projecting end bays (right at no. 32, left at no. 34). The pilasters along no. 32, with a break in the cornice (on the ground floor provided with rustication, on the upper storey with cassettes) are intended as delimiting elements in this composition, but the left one at no. 34 was not executed.
The facade of no. 32 has a plastered plinth, speckled coursing and a storey-dividing cornice moulding below the hipped roof with a dormer window.
The shopfront of no. 32 regained its original arrangement and detailing in 1992. All windows on the ground floor now again have coupled profile moulding with keystone around the fanlights of the window openings. The windows on the upper storey stand under recessed segment arches, like those on the upper storey of no. 22-24. The cornice too with a frieze with brick decoration is identical to that of no. 22-24. The dormer windows are provided with wing pieces with volutes.
Valuation
The property forms part of a well-preserved late 19th-century facade wall with properties in eclectic style.
