Inleiding
Watertoren, in 1933 gebouwd voor het in 1932 opgerichte gemeentelijk waterleidingbedrijf. De toren werd ontworpen door ir. H. Sangster en uitgevoerd door C. van Prooyen te Barendrecht. De toren staat boven op een duintop en is niet meer als watertoren in gebruik. Aan de gevels zijn sporen van oorlogsschade zichtbaar.
Omschrijving
De 28,5 meter hoge toren heeft een ronde doorsnede met naar boven toe een geringe afname van de buitendiameter. Het betonnen reservoir heeft een vlakke bodem en wordt door vijf betonnen kolommen ondersteund. Dit skelet wordt ommanteld door een gele bakstenen buitenmuur op een donkerrode bakstenen plint.
Diverse gevelopeningen zijn met beton geaccentueerd of omlijst. Boven het reservoir bevindt zich een gaanderij voor gebruik als uitzichttoren. De toren wordt afgesloten door een bolkap die is bedekt met koper.
De ingang bevindt zich aan de zuidwestzijde. De rondboogvormige ingang, is voorzien van een betonnen omlijsting en een eenvoudige houten deur. Op het niveau van de eerste verdieping bevinden zich enkele smalle hoge vensters.
Ter hoogte van het reservoir eveneens enkele hoge vensters en daarboven reeksen gekoppelde gevelopeningen.
Waardering
Watertoren van cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde en van belang vanwege ensemblewaarde en herkenbaarheid.

Description
The 28.5 metre high tower has a circular cross-section with a slight reduction in outer diameter towards the top. The concrete reservoir has a flat bottom and is supported by five concrete columns. This skeleton is clad with a yellow brick external wall on a dark red brick plinth.
Various facade openings are accentuated or outlined with concrete. Above the reservoir is a gallery for use as an observation tower. The tower is topped with a cupola covered in copper.
The entrance is located on the south-west side. The rounded arch entrance is provided with a concrete frame and a simple wooden door. At the level of the first floor are some narrow tall windows.
At the level of the reservoir likewise some tall windows and above these rows of coupled facade openings.
