Inleiding
BOERDERIJ VAN HET KOP-ROMP TYPE, behorend bij het landgoed Almelo. De boerderij(12) is in opdracht van de Graaf van Rechteren Limpurg in ca. 1939 ontworpen door architect Jan Jans, een architect die bij z'n ontwerpen veel gebruik maakte van traditionele Twentse elementen. De boerderij staat noordelijk van de Gravenallee buiten de gracht rond het kasteel maar wel in het zicht ervan, met de achtergevel richting het kasteel.
Aan de achterzijde bevindt zich de entree tot het erf: een houten hek tussen pijlers Bentheimer zandsteen.
Omschrijving
De boerderij van het kop-romp type is opgetrokken in rode baksteen onder zadeldaken met zwarte geglazuurde Hollandse pannen. De geveltoppen zijn beschoten, de rechtgesloten vensters onder strekken zijn behangen met Almelo-luiken; rood met een wit lijstje en een donkergroene rand.
De voorgevel (O) van het huis is geleed door twee negenruits schuifvensters op de begane grond en twee zesruits vensters in de geveltop. Daartussen is een zandsteen met het wapen van Almelo aangebracht. In de linker zijgevel (Z) van het huis twee negenruits vensters met een deur met vierruits venster ertussen en een dakkapel met vierruits venster en fronton in het dakvlak. In het dakvlak boven de rechter zijgevel (N), met een twaalfruits venster, eenzelfde dakkapel. Een krimp geeft hier de overgang van huis naar bedrijfsgedeelte aan. In de voorgevel (O) van het bedrijfsgedeelte is een getoogde baander met ruitvormige vensters geplaatst, in de top een rond venster met ijzeren roedenverdeling.
De linker zijgevel (Z) van het bedrijfsgedeelte is geleed door achtruits vensters, negenruits schuifvensters (beide zonder luiken) en twee staldeuren.
In de achtergevel (W) wordt de getoogde baander met ruitvormige vensters geflankeerd door twee staldeuren onder ronde vensters met ijzeren roedenverdeling en twee negenruits schuifvensters. In het gevelbeschot een luik.
De rechter zijgevel is geleed door staldeuren en zowel rechtgesloten als halfronde stalvensters.
Waardering
De boerderij van het kop-romptype is van cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang vanwege:
- de ruimtelijke en functionele samenhang met de overige onderdelen van de het landgoed van kasteel Almelo

FARM OF THE HEAD-AND-BODY TYPE, belonging to the Almelo estate. The farm(12) was designed around 1939 by architect Jan Jans on the commission of the Count van Rechteren Limpurg, an architect who made extensive use of traditional Twentse elements in his designs. The farm is situated to the north of the Gravenallee outside the moat around the castle but within sight of it, with the rear facade facing the castle.
On the rear side is the entrance to the farmyard: a wooden gate between pillars of Bentheimer sandstone.
Description
The head-and-body type farm is built in red brick under gabled roofs with black glazed Dutch tiles. The gable tops are rendered, the right-angled windows under lintels are hung with Almelo shutters; red with a white border and a dark green edge.
The front facade (E) of the house is divided by two nine-pane sash windows on the ground floor and two six-pane windows in the gable top. Between them is a sandstone with the coat of arms of Almelo. In the left side facade (S) of the house two nine-pane windows with a door with four-pane window between them and a dormer with four-pane window and pediment in the roof plane. In the roof plane above the right side facade (N), with a twelve-pane window, an identical dormer. A step marks here the transition from house to business section. In the front facade (E) of the business section an arched brickwork with diamond-shaped windows is placed, at the top a round window with iron glazing bars.
The left side facade (S) of the business section is divided by eight-pane windows, nine-pane sash windows (both without shutters) and two stable doors.
In the rear facade (W) the arched brickwork with diamond-shaped windows is flanked by two stable doors under round windows with iron glazing bars and two nine-pane sash windows. In the facade boarding a shutter.
The right side facade is divided by stable doors and both right-angled and semi-circular stable windows.
