Omschrijving bij onderdeel 29:
ORANJERIE behorende tot de buitenplaats Twickel. In oorsprong een 18de-eeuws gebouw dat waarschijnlijk in 1810 met een westelijke vleugel is uitgebreid en in de jaren 1833-35 door J.D. Zocher jr. tot de huidige vorm is verbouwd. De op rechthoekig grondplan opgetrokken rood bakstenen oranjerie met een segmentvormig middenstuk staat op een plint van natuursteen, waarop één bouwlaag onder een met leien gedekte schilddak voorzien van pinakels. De vensterindeling van het gebogen middenstuk is mogelijk uitgevoerd naar een in 1891 geleverd ontwerp van H. Poortman (ontwerp is niet bewaard gebleven) en bestaat uit een dubbele glazen deur met halfrond bovenlicht tussen twee pilasters met twee Franse ramen ernaast. Het middenstuk wordt geflankeerd door twee risalieten bestaande uit twee natuurstenen pilasters aan weerszijden van Franse ramen met roedenverdeling. Dit geheel wordt bekroond door een brede geprofileerde daklijst (goot). Een foto toont vier stenen sfinxen die bovenop de omlijsting van de risalieten lagen, deze zijn bij herstelwerkzaamheden na WOII verwijderd, maar nog wel op Twickel aanwezig. De drie vensterassen terzijde van het middenstuk worden gevormd door grote vensters met roedenverdeling. Het interieur is gepleisterd en wit gesausd en heeft een vloer van Bentheimer zandsteen. De oranjerie is zomers in gebruik als theeschenkerij. Restauratie 1993.

ORANGERY belonging to the country estate Twickel. Originally an 18th-century building that was probably extended with a western wing in 1810 and was remodeled to its present form in the years 1833-35 by J.D. Zocher jr. The orangery, built on a rectangular ground plan in red brick with a segmental-shaped central section, stands on a plinth of natural stone, on which one storey is situated beneath a hipped roof covered with slate and furnished with pinnacles. The window arrangement of the curved central section was possibly executed according to a design delivered in 1891 by H. Poortman (the design has not been preserved) and consists of a double glazed door with semicircular fanlight between two pilasters with two French windows next to it. The central section is flanked by two risalits consisting of two natural stone pilasters on either side of French windows with glazing bars. This whole is crowned by a broad profiled cornice (gutter). A photograph shows four stone sphinxes that lay on top of the framing of the risalits; these were removed during restoration work after WWII but are still present at Twickel. The three window bays on either side of the central section are formed by large windows with glazing bars. The interior is plastered and whitewashed and has a floor of Bentheimer sandstone. The orangery is used in summer as a tea pavilion. Restoration 1993.
