SOUTHERN BUILDING HOUSE belonging to the country estate Twickel. On the forecourt stands an 18th-century brick building house on an L-shaped plan standing on a sandstone plinth. On the hipped roof covered with grey Old Dutch tiles stand three chimneys. In the building house is housed a coach house, stables, saddle and harness room (restoration in the period 1982, 1984-85) and an old steward's office (restoration 1997-1998). The long front facade has an entrance section identical to the northern building house. The facade has a regular layout with round-arched windows with glazing bars and window edges; beneath the roof edge eight square blind niches. The gable end of the short wing has two (new) double wooden carriage doors behind which is a sliding window section with glazing bars, above which is a roof dormer with rounded pediment. The west facade has a built-up old entrance door with natural stone doorposts. The virtually solid rear facade has on the right side beneath the roof edge ten stable windows with iron ornamental window frames in front. On the left side where the harness, cleaning room and the old steward's office are located are five multi-pane windows with window edges and four rectangular windows beneath the roof edge. In one of the windows so-called beer panes are fitted (remnants from a higher window, which have been forged together into a new whole); two panes bear the years 1654 and 1655, three others are dated 1675. INTERNALLY: in 1892 a part of the building house was fitted out as a horse stable on the English model. The interior is completely intact with wooden wainscoting, the horse boxes with name plates and iron tubular grilles. Yellow brick floor with an iron drainage channel in the middle.
