Inleiding
Villa "De Bagatelle" in sobere Neo-Classicistiche trant uit ca. 1870. Het pand staat in een ruime, beschutte tuin met fraai siersmeedijzeren hek, in de buurt van het station.
Oorspronkelijk diende het pand als woonhuis voor de stationschef.
Omschrijving
Monumentale wit gepleisterde villa van twee bouwlagen op nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond onder een schilddak met Hollandse pannen. Op de nokhoeken twee gepleisterde schoorstenen, bekroond met siersmeedwerk op schoorsteenborden. Op het achterdakvlak (O) een later toegevoegde derde schoorsteen. Aan de achterzijde staat een uitbouw, bestaande uit een middenpartij met verdieping onder zadeldak met aan weerszijden een laagbouwdeel onder half schilddak. Het pand heeft hoeklisenen, een grijs geschilderde plint en wordt rondom beeindigd door een geprofileerde dak- en gootlijst. In de drie vensterassen tellende voorgevel(W) zijn de lisenen op de gevelhoeken en ter weerszijden van de middelste travee voorzien van spaarvelden. In de deels risalerende met een fronton afgesloten middenpartij bevindt zich de -niet oorspronkelijke- dubbele deur onder afdak en bovenlicht metlevensboom. De recht gesloten vensters met bovenlicht en roeden (door recente voorzetramen onzichtbaar) hebben op beide bouwlagen een geprofileerde omlijsting met afgeronde bovenhoeken. Op de verdiepingsscheiding een geprofileerde cordonlijst. De vensters in de zijgevels hebben dezelfde detaillering als in de voorgevel. Aan de linker zijgevel bevindt zich een - later toegevoegde- houten serre onder lessenaardak. De gehele aanbouw aan de achterzijde (O) is eenvoudiger uitgevoerd. De gemetselde gevels zijn -waarschijnlijk later- wit geschilderd met een grijs geschilderde plint. In het hoog opgaande middengedeelte met hoeklisenen en een eenvoudig geprofileerde goot bevindt zich een oorspronkelijke houten deur onder bovenlicht met levensboom; daarboven een dubbele deur en in de top een halfrond venster met radiale roedenverdeling. In de lagere bouwdelen ter weerszijden twee rechthoe-kige vensters van verschillende grootte met roeden (en recente voorzetramen).
Waardering
De villa is van architectuur-, cultuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang vanwege:
- de bouwstijl met Neo-Classicistische elementen
- de redelijke mate van uitwendige gaafheid
- de oorsponkelijke functie als woonhuis van de stationschef
- de beeldbepalende situering van het pand met tuin en hek en de ruimtelijke relatie met omgeving.

Villa "De Bagatelle" in austere Neo-Classical style from circa 1870. The property stands in a spacious, sheltered garden with fine ornamental ironwork gate, in the vicinity of the station.
Originally the property served as a residence for the station master.
Description
Monumental whitewashed villa of two storeys on an almost square plan under a hipped roof with Dutch tiles. On the ridge corners two whitewashed chimneys, crowned with ornamental ironwork on chimney boards. On the rear roof plane (E) a later added third chimney. On the rear side stands an extension, consisting of a central section with storey under gabled roof with on either side a low-building section under half-hipped roof. The property has corner pilasters, a grey-painted plinth and is finished all around with a profiled cornice and gutter line. In the three window bays of the front facade (W) the pilasters on the gable corners and on either side of the middle bay are provided with reveal panels. In the partly projecting central section concluded with a pediment is situated the -not original- double door under a canopy and fanlight with acanthus leaf motif. The straight-headed windows with fanlight and glazing bars (concealed by recent window frames) have on both storeys a profiled surround with rounded top corners. On the storey division a profiled string course. The windows in the side facades have the same detailing as in the front facade. On the left side facade is situated a -later added- wooden conservatory under a desk roof. The entire extension on the rear side (E) is executed more simply. The brick facades are -probably later- whitewashed with a grey-painted plinth. In the high rising central section with corner pilasters and a simply profiled gutter is situated an original wooden door under fanlight with acanthus leaf motif; above it a double door and in the top a semi-circular window with radial glazing bar division. In the lower building sections on either side two rectangular windows of different sizes with glazing bars (and recent window frames).
Valuation
The villa is of architectural, cultural-historical and urban planning importance on account of:
- the building style with Neo-Classical elements
- the reasonable degree of external integrity
- the original function as residence of the station master
- the visually defining location of the property with garden and gate and the spatial relationship with the surroundings.
