Introduction

Dwelling house (later museum Venendal) built in eclectic style with neo-Renaissance elements, acquired its present appearance in 1888. Three date inscriptions are built into the north gable: 1653, 1857, 1888. 1653 could indicate the year of the first construction; in 1857 a renovation took place and the small office on the south side of the house was built. Chamfered corner sections, heavily framed by plastered pilasters with spare fields and decorations, crowned by small pointed gable under single-slope roof with plastered eaves line and finials. Central section with entrance, balcony on consoles and embedded dormer, flanked by plastered pilasters as described. Double panel door with wrought ironwork under round-arched fanlight in round-arched portico with keystone and diamond heads in the arch; hard stone step. Double balcony doors under arched fanlight. On either side of the entrance two arched H-windows. All windows and balcony doors with plastered frame with pediment and ball crownings.

Northern side gable with ornamental wall anchors and arched T-windows under segmental arch with ornamental brickwork. The narrower largely plastered rear section with staple anchors, cellar windows with anti-theft bars and various types of windows; on the south gable a door with four-pane fanlight. In the rear gable a hayloft door.

Against the southern side gable an extension under gabled roof with Dutch tiles, weather vane, finial and a gutter on clamps. Front facade with laid corner strips, a high arched sash window under segmental arch; above it a four-pane round-arched window under roll course.
