Inleiding
Woonhuis in 1878 gebouwd in opdracht van een vervenersfamilie, naar ontwerp van H.E. Hoegsma. Het in eclectische trant gebouwde pand ligt met de voorgevel direkt aan de straat; aan de achterzijde een ruime tuin. Het pand is onderdeel van de karakteristieke eind 19e en begin 20e eeuwse bebouwing aan de voormalige Hoogeveensche Vaart in het centrum van Hoogeveen. Ten zuidoosten staat een voor bescherming van ondergeschikt belang schuurtje. De bescherming richt zich op het exterieur, interieur is onbekend.
Omschrijving
Woonhuis opgetrokken in baksteen vanuit een L-vormige plattegrond onder samengesteld dak met platte Friese pannen; een afgeknot schilddak met aan de achterzijde een deel onder zadeldak met ongelijke dakschilden en een deel onder afgewolfd zadeldak. Op de nokhoeken vier gemetselde schoorstenen met sierlijke ijzeren bekroning. Symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel met gepleisterde plint en verkropte geprofileerde dak- en gootlijst; deels gepleisterde hoeklisenen. Middenpartij tussen gepleisterde bloklisenen; dubbele deur onder glas-in-lood bovenlicht met afgeronde hoeken en profiellijst met kuif. Erboven een balkon met gietijzeren hekwerk op consoles; dakkapel met dubbele balkondeuren in profiellijst met kuif, geflankeerd door hoekpilasters met gepleisterde spaarvelden en fronton. Ter weerszijden van de entree twee vensters met bovenlicht als omschreven onder segmentboog in gele steen; hardstenen lekdorpels.
Zuidelijke zijgevel met goot op klampen, staafankers, 1 venster als omschreven, een houten deur, drie vensters met bovenlicht onder strek met gele steen; latere aanbouw onder lessenaardak.
Achtergevel en interieur onbekend.

Woonhuis van architectuur-, en cultuurhistorisch belang vanwege de eclectische bouwstijl en de zorgvuldige vormgeving van met name de voorgevel, de hoge mate van gaafheid van het exterieur (intereur?). In relatie met de omringende bebouwing van stedebouwkundig belang vanwege de ligging in het bijzondere gebied langs de voormalig Hoogeveensche Vaart.

Introduction
Residential house built in 1878 on behalf of a peat-diggers' family, designed by H.E. Hoegsma. The building constructed in eclectic style has its front facade directly facing the street; at the rear a spacious garden. The building is part of the characteristic late 19th and early 20th century development along the former Hoogeveensche Vaart in the centre of Hoogeveen. To the south-east stands a small shed of subordinate importance for protection. The protection focuses on the exterior; the interior is unknown.
Description
Residential house built in brick from an L-shaped floor plan under a composite roof with flat Frisian tiles; a truncated hipped roof with on the rear side part under gabled roof with unequal roof tiles and part under curved gabled roof. On the ridge corners four masoned chimneys with decorative iron crowning. Symmetrically arranged front facade with rendered plinth and projecting moulded roof and gutter detail; partly rendered corner mouldings. Central section between rendered block mouldings; double door under glass-in-lead fanlight with rounded corners and moulded detail with cyma. Above it a balcony with cast-iron railings on consoles; roof dormer with double balcony doors in moulded detail with cyma, flanked by corner pilasters with rendered spandrels and pediment. On either side of the entrance two windows with fanlight as described under segmental arch in yellow brick; hardstone drip mouldings.
Southern side facade with gutter on clamps, rod anchors, 1 window as described, a wooden door, three windows with fanlight under straight courses with yellow brick; later extension under mansard roof.
Rear facade and interior unknown.
Valuation
Residential house of architectural and cultural-historical importance because of the eclectic building style and the careful design of in particular the front facade, the high degree of integrity of the exterior (interior?).
