Inleiding
In een Traditioneel-ambachtelijke stijl omstreeks 1892 in opdracht van dhr. Roebroeks gebouwd dubbel HERENHUIS.
Het dubbel herenhuis is vrijstaand gesitueerd aan Neerhem nabij de Heunsberg.
Omschrijving:
Het dubbel herenhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen en een sousterrainverdieping, en wordt afgedekt met zadeldaken met kruispannen. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen met speklagen in mergel.
Rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren met bovenlichten.
Rechterdeel frontgevel iets vooruitspringend en uitlopend in een topgevel.
Frontgevel met tweezijdig opgaande trappartij versierd met een valk in mergel. In deze trappartij twee rondboogvormige toegangen naar de souterrainverdieping. Vensters souterrainverdieping met rondboogvormige vulstukken met florentijnse bogen. Overige vensters met geboogde strek met aanzet- en sluitstenen in mergel. In linkerdeel frontgevel eerste bouwlaag een keramische plaquette met het jaartal 1895. In de tweede bouwlaag linkerzijgevel een houten erker met plat dak steunend op mergelconsoles. Linker- en rechterdeel van de linkerzijgevel uitlopend in topgevel.
INTERIEUR deels gewijzigd, overigens niet beschermenswaardig.
Waardering:
Het dubbel herenhuis Neerhem 64-66 is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling. Het dubbel herenhuis bezit architectuurhistorische waarden vanwege het belang voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur, wegens de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Ensemblewaarde ontleent dit dubbel herenhuis aan de situering aan Neerhem. Deze straat is een voorbeeld van een lineaire ontwikkeling uit de periode 1850-1940, en daarmee van bijzondere betekenis voor het aanzien van dit deel van Valkenburg aan de Geul.
