Inleiding
De drie ARBEIDERSWONINGEN aan de Havenweg 39, Nutstraat 3 en Caspar di Roblesstraat 2B zijn in tussen maart 1909 en juni 1910 gebouwd, naar ontwerp van architect L. Torenbeek; aannemer was R. Krijtenburg uit Harlingen. Ook deze woningen zijn in Ambachtelijk-tradionele stijl gebouwd en horen bij het sociale woningbouwcomplex van het Havengebied, dat gerealiseerd werd in de periode 1909-1911 in opdracht van de Bouwvereniging Harlingen. De woningen zijn van het type B (zie inleiding complexomschrijving). Havenweg 39 is naar het zuidwesten georiënteerd, Nutstraat 3 naar het westen en C. di Roblesstraat 2B naar het zuidoosten. De plattegrond en de voorgevel van dit laatste pand zijn spiegelbeeldig ingedeeld t.o.v. de overige twee.
Van de INTERIEURS komt alléén dat van de arbeiderswoning aan de Caspar di Roblesstraat 2B in aanmerking voor rijksbescherming.
Omschrijving
De arbeiderswoningen hebben een rechthoekige plattegrond; de gevels zijn uit bruine bakstenen opgetrokken, voor de eenvoudige decoratieve elementen van strekbogen en gevelbanden zijn bruine en gele bakstenen gebruikt. De woningen worden gedekt door een zadeldak van zwarte gegolfde friese pannen, waarop twee schoorstenen zijn geplaatst.
- Havenweg 39: de voorgevel is van een betonnen plint voorzien en is in een latere tijd geheel wit geverfd, inclusief strekbogen en trommelvelden. Een betonnen daklijst begrenst de top, die door een gemetselde toppilaster wordt bekroond. In de eerste bouwlaag zitten twee zesruitsvensters en links ervan de (vernieuwde) houten voordeur. In de top een groot dubbel zesruitsvenster. De oostelijke zijgevel grenst tegen de zijgevel van Havenweg 41 aan. De achtergevel grenst aan een plaatsje. Het pand dient als het ware als afsluiting van de rij arbeiderswoningen Havenweg 41 t/m 53.
- Nutstraat 3: de eerste bouwlaag wordt door een gemetselde band van bruine en gele bakstenen van de top onderscheiden. In de voorgevel zitten rechts de houten (vernieuwde) voordeur en links twee zesruitsvensters. De gemetselde lichtgebogen strekken zijn van bruine bakstenen met aanzet- en sluitstenen in gele bakstenen; de trommelvelden worden versierd door een bakstenen mozaïek-motief van gele en bruine bakstenen. In de top zit een dubbel zesruitsvenster met licht gebogen strek en twee gemetselde banden. Een betonnen lijst sluit de top (met toppilaster) af. De zijgevel aan de noordzijde is blind en voorzien van een gemetselde sierband die vanaf de voorgevel rondom doorloopt; de achtergevel, voorzien van een houten deur en twee vensters, grenst aan een plaatsje. De zijgevel aan de zuidzijde grenst aan de arbeiderswoning Nutstraat 5.
- Caspar di Roblesstraat 2B: deze arbeiderswoning is qua gevels gelijk aan Nutstraat 3. Het pand heeft aan de voorzijde een kleine tuin.
Het INTERIEUR van deze arbeiderswoning is gaaf en komt in aanmerking voor bescherming van rijkswege (zie inleiding complexomschrijving). De indeling van het pand is oorspronkelijk. Essentiële bewaarde onderdelen zijn o.m. de nog overal aanwezige paneeldeuren, de houten plafonds en de houten wandkasten met paneeldeuren. Via de smalle gang is de woonkamer bereikbaar, waar een houten schouw met schoorsteenmantel staat. Hier zit de oorspronkelijke oranje betegeling. Via de gang zijn ook een slaapkamer te betreden en de keuken. Hier zijn de oude kasten nog aanwezig met houten paneeldeuren. Vanaf de keuken is de plaats aan de achterkant bereikbaar. Via de oorspronkelijke houten trap, is de verdieping in de top te bereiken. Hier zijn twee kleine slaapkamers met de oorspronkelijke wandkasten en een opbergruimte. De vensters zijn alle van het oorspronkelijk sluitwerk voorzien.
Waardering
De drie woningen van het type B, gebouwd in 1909 in het Havengebied aan de Havenweg 39, Nutstraat 3 en C. di Roblesstraat 2B, zijn van bijzonder cultuurhistorisch belang:
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en sociaaleconomische ontwikkeling;
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkelingen binnen de sociale woningbouw;
- wegens hun betekenis als onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch en maatschappelijk van nationaal belang is;
- wegens de situering die verbonden is met de ontwikkeling en uitbreiding van de stad;

The three WORKERS' DWELLINGS at Havenweg 39, Nutstraat 3 and Caspar di Roblesstraat 2B were built between March 1909 and June 1910, designed by architect L. Torenbeek; the contractor was R. Krijtenburg from Harlingen. These dwellings were also built in Craftsman-traditional style and are part of the social housing complex of the Harbour Area, which was realised in the period 1909-1911 on behalf of the Bouwvereniging Harlingen. The dwellings are of type B (see introduction to complex description). Havenweg 39 is oriented towards the southwest, Nutstraat 3 towards the west and C. di Roblesstraat 2B towards the southeast. Description
The workers' dwellings have a rectangular floor plan; the facades are built of brown brick, with brown and yellow bricks used for the simple decorative elements of soldier arches and facade bands. The dwellings are covered by a gabled roof of black corrugated Frisian tiles, on which two chimneys are placed.
- Havenweg 39: the front facade is provided with a concrete plinth and has been entirely painted white at a later time, including soldier arches and drum panels. A concrete cornice limits the top, which is crowned by a moulded top pilaster. In the first storey are two six-pane windows and to the left of them the (renewed) wooden front door. At the top a large double six-pane window. The eastern side facade adjoins the side facade of Havenweg 41. The rear facade adjoins a courtyard. The property serves, as it were, as the end of the row of workers' dwellings Havenweg 41 to 53.
- Nutstraat 3: the first storey is distinguished from the top by a moulded band of brown and yellow bricks. In the front facade to the right is the wooden (renewed) front door and to the left two six-pane windows. The moulded light-curved soldier arches are of brown bricks with header and closing bricks in yellow bricks; the drum panels are decorated by a brick mosaic motif of yellow and brown bricks. At the top is a double six-pane window with light-curved arch and two moulded bands. A concrete moulding closes off the top (with top pilaster). The side facade on the north side is blank and provided with a moulded ornamental band which runs around from the front facade; the rear facade, provided with a wooden door and two windows, adjoins a courtyard. The side facade on the south side adjoins the workers' dwelling Nutstraat 5.
- Caspar di Roblesstraat 2B: this workers' dwelling has facades equal to Nutstraat 3. The property has a small garden at the front.
The INTERIOR of this workers' dwelling is intact and is eligible for protection by national authority (see introduction to complex description). The layout of the property is original. Essential preserved components include, among others, the panel doors present throughout, the wooden ceilings and the wooden wall cupboards with panel doors. Via the narrow hall the living room is accessible, where a wooden chimney breast with fireplace mantel stands. Here is the original orange tiling. Via the hall, a bedroom and the kitchen can also be entered. Here the old cupboards with wooden panel doors are still present. From the kitchen the courtyard at the back is accessible. Via the original wooden staircase, the upper floor at the top can be reached. Here are two small bedrooms with the original wall cupboards and a storage space. The windows are all provided with the original closing hardware.
Valuation
The three dwellings of type B, built in 1909 in the Harbour Area at Havenweg 39, Nutstraat 3 and C. di Roblesstraat 2B, are of particular cultural-historical importance:
