Inleiding
Het GEDENKTEKEN uit 1875 werd geleverd door K.F. Ozinga, die daarvoor op 5 juni 1875 f75,- kreeg betaald. Het opschrift van de steen memoreert de aanleg van 'dezen' weg door de 'Reederij'. De Reederij tot Nut der Inwoners te Anjum werd in 1797 opgericht als corporatie voor het beheer van de kerkelijke goederen uit vrees voor de onteigening door de Staat. Tussen 1850 en 1875 subsidieerde deze corporatie onder meer de wegverbeteringen in en rondom Anjum. Op 8 april 1871 vermeldt het administratieboek van de Reederij de aankoop van percelen 'tot het aanleggen van eenen weg (...) welke weg zal loopen van den zoogenaamden Heerenweg tot de tegenwoordige opslag bij de vaart', de huidige Rederijwei. Het plan daartoe werd geleverd door B.K. Vogel, 'Dijksopzigter' de Contributie Zeedijken Oostdongeradeel, die ook het toezicht hield op de uitvoering door D.K. Gaasterland. 'De nieuwe weg ten westen en om Anjum, benevens de straatlantaarns, de stalten, leuningen (..) zijn bij acte van schenking van den 29 mei 1875 gepasseerd (...) overgedragen aan het Bestuur der Gemeente Oostdongeradeel, nadat de weg eerst is vervloerd geworden ingevolge het besluit in den vergadering van den 23 Junij 1874'. De bestrating werd uitgevoerd door R. van Dijk onder toezicht van B.K. Vogel, terwijl het zand en de stenen geleverd werden door respectievelijk W. van der Meulen en B. van der Meulen. Bij deze gelegenheid werd tevens het gedenkteken geplaatst. Het was een van de laatste activiteiten van de corporatie, die door de aandeelhouders op 12 mei 1875 reeds was ontbonden.
Omschrijving
Conische kolom met een ovalen doorsnede op een kubusvormig voetstuk, vervaardigd uit één stuk hardsteen en met verticale frijnslag. De hoogte boven het maaiveld is 127 cm; het voetstuk meet 31,5 x 40 cm en de grootste diameter aan de onderzijde is 28 cm en aan de bovenzijde 19,5 cm. Op de schacht is in laagreliëf een ovalen omlijsting gebeiteld waarbinnen een klein bloemornament en het opschrift: GEDENKSTEEN AAN DEN AANLEG VAN DEZEN WEG IN 1871 DOOR DE IN 1797 TE ANJUM OPGERIGTE REEDERIJ.
Waardering
Het gedenkteken uit 1875 aan de Rederijweg is van algemene cultuurhistorische waarde:
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van een lokale ontwikkeling van de infrastructuur, in het bijzonder de verbetering van de ontsluiting van het dorp Anjum,
- als bijzondere getuigenis van een historische organisatie,
- vanwege de bijzondere betekenis van het object en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met de aanleg van de weg,

Introduction
The MEMORIAL from 1875 was supplied by K.F. Ozinga, who was paid f75,- for it on 5 June 1875. The inscription on the stone commemorates the construction of 'this' road by the 'Reederij'. The Reederij tot Nut der Inwoners te Anjum was established in 1797 as a corporation for the management of ecclesiastical property for fear of expropriation by the State. Between 1850 and 1875 this corporation subsidised among other things road improvements in and around Anjum. On 8 April 1871 the administrative book of the Reederij mentions the purchase of plots 'for the construction of a road (...) which road shall run from the so-called Heerenweg to the present storage by the watercourse', the present Rederijwei. The plan for this was provided by B.K. Vogel, 'Dijksopzigter' of the Contributie Zeedijken Oostdongeradeel, who also supervised the execution by D.K. Gaasterland. 'The new road to the west and around Anjum, together with the street lamps, the stalls, railings (..) were by deed of gift of 29 May 1875 transferred (...) to the Administration of the Municipality of Oostdongeradeel, after the road was first paved in accordance with the decision at the meeting of 23 June 1874'. Description
Conical column with an oval cross-section on a cubic pedestal, made from a single piece of hard stone and with vertical fine chiselling. The height above ground level is 127 cm; the pedestal measures 31.5 x 40 cm and the greatest diameter at the base is 28 cm and at the top 19.5 cm. On the shaft is chiselled in low relief an oval frame within which a small floral ornament and the inscription: MEMORIAL STONE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS ROAD IN 1871 BY THE REEDERIJ ESTABLISHED IN 1797 AT ANJUM.
Valuation
The memorial from 1875 at Rederijweg is of general cultural historical value:
