Omschrijving
ORANJERIE behorende tot het complex "Welgelegen" uit ca. 1830. De uit Engeland afkomstige gietijzeren oranjerie werd omstreeks 1830 in losse delen naar Nederland vervoerd en ten westen van het Huis Welgelegen opgetrokken. De oranjerie op rechthoekige grondslag en een natuurstenen plint is voorzien van een zadeldak en samengesteld uit losse gietijzeren onderdelen. Thans resteren nog elf smalle kolommen; deze zijn bovenaan met elkaar verbonden door roosters met ruitvormige detaillering waarin oorspronkelijk blauw glas was geplaatst. De oost- en zuidzijde van de oranjerie bestaan uit glazen wanden, de noord- en westzijde bestaan uit muren van respectievelijk de voormalige wagenschuur en Villa Elise. In de oranjerie bevinden zich de originele rood bakstenen vloer en trek- en drukstangconstructie van het zadeldak. Oorspronkelijk was de oranjerie aan de oostzijde voorzien van een halfronde beëindiging. In 1944 werd echter ten gevolge van een explosie alle glas uit de oranjerie geblazen en werd tevens de halfronde beëindiging vernield. In 1998 werd de oranjerie gerestaureerd.
ORANJERIE van algemeen cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de ouderdom, de zeldzaamheid, het karakteristieke materiaalgebruik, de ensemblewaarde en de functioneel-ruimtelijke relatie met de overige onderdelen van het complex.

Description
ORANGERY belonging to the complex "Welgelegen" dating from circa 1830. The cast-iron orangery originating from England was transported in loose parts to the Netherlands around 1830 and erected to the west of Huis Welgelegen. The orangery on a rectangular plan and natural stone plinth is provided with a gabled roof and assembled from loose cast-iron components. Currently eleven narrow columns remain; these are connected at the top by grilles with diamond-shaped detailing in which blue glass was originally placed. The east and south sides of the orangery consist of glazed walls, the north and west sides consist of walls of the former wagon barn and Villa Elise respectively. The orangery contains the original red brick floor and the tension and compression rod structure of the gabled roof. Originally the orangery was provided with a semi-circular termination on the east side. In 1944, however, as a result of an explosion all glass from the orangery was blown out and the semi-circular termination was also destroyed. In 1998 the orangery was restored.
