Inleiding
DUBBELE DIENSTWONING, thans militair geneeskundige dienst en DGWT-gebouw, gesitueerd op het terrein van de Tapijnkazerne, parallel aan de St.Hubertuslaan. Gebouwd in 1917, in traditionele stijl, volgens ontwerp van de Kapitein Eerstaanwezend Ingenieur der Genie van het Eerste Genie Commandement te Breda en in opdracht van het Ministerie van Oorlog. De twee aanbouwen van een bouwlaag onder plat aan de achtergevel zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Dubbele dienstwoning op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een samengestelde dakconstructie van schild- wolfs- en zadeldaken.
Dakkapellen met houten beschot. Grijze betonpannen. Bakgoten op klossen. De hoofdgevel heeft twee risalerende vleugels met één vensteras en een klein vierruits topgevelvenster. De tussengelegen gevel heeft twee vensterassen, waarboven zich op de zolderverdieping twee dakkapellen bevinden. De zijgevels zijn voorzien van twee traveeën, twee kleine topgevelvensters. Het geheel is opgetrokken in rode baksteen, gemetseld in kruisverband. Geprofileerde plint met kunststenen lijst, kunststenen dorpels.
Rechthoekige houten kruiskozijnen, deels voorzien van achtruitsbovenlichten en vensterluiken. Rechthoekige houten paneeldeuren met achtruits bovenlichten, rechthoekige houten vensters met vierruits bovenlichten.
Waardering
De dubbele dienstwoning van de Tapijnkazerne is van cultuurhistorisch belang als een bijzondere uitdrukking van een bestuurlijke en typologische ontwikkeling.
Uit architectuurhistorisch oogpunt is de woning van belang voor het oeuvre van het Wapen der Genie en van belang vanwege de esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp.
Op het punt van de ensemblewaarden scoort de dubbele woning vanwege de bijzondere betekenis als belangrijke onderdeel van de Maastrichtse singel- en villapark bebouwing, die cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig van nationaal belang is; vanwege de bijzondere betekenis vanwege de situering, verbonden met de ontwikkeling en uitbreiding van de stad; vanwege de bijzondere betekenis voor het aanzien van de stad; vanwege het zeer grote belang door de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met de singels, het villapark, de vestingwerken en de Jeker.

DOUBLE SERVICE DWELLING, now military medical service and DGWT building, situated on the grounds of the Tapijnkazerne, parallel to St.Hubertuslaan. Double service dwelling on a rectangular floor plan under a composite roof structure of hipped, half-hipped and gabled roofs.
Roof dormers with wooden cladding. Grey concrete tiles. Roof gutters on brackets. The main facade has two projecting wings with one window bay and a small four-pane gable end window. The intermediate facade has two window bays, above which on the attic storey there are two roof dormers. The side facades are provided with two bays, two small gable end windows. The whole is constructed in red brick, laid in cross bond. Profiled plinth with artificial stone list, artificial stone thresholds.
Rectangular wooden cross windows, partly provided with rear-pane fanlights and shutters. Rectangular wooden panel doors with rear-pane fanlights, rectangular wooden windows with four-pane fanlights.

The double service dwelling of the Tapijnkazerne is of cultural-historical importance as a distinctive expression of an administrative and typological development.
