Inleiding
WOONHUIS-ATELIER van glazenier J. Rosier, die in 1921 opdrachtgever was voor de bouw van zijn door de architecten A.J.N. Boosten en J. Ritzen in expressionistische stijl ontworpen pand. Het is gesitueerd in de gesloten wand van de Lyonnetstraat. Naderhand is het bedrijfsgedeelte ingericht tot smederij.
Omschrijving
Pand met drie bouwlagen op rechthoekige plattegrond, gedeeltelijk voorzien van een mergelkelder. Het geheel wordt gedekt door platte daken. De eerste bouwlaag met ateliersruimte neemt de gehele perceeloppervlakte in beslag. Het atelier is meermalen verbouwd en onder andere voorzien van een vernieuwde lichtinval. Boven het atelier bevinden zich twee woonbouwlagen, op het platte dakdeel een dakterras.
Expressionistisch vormgegeven, symmetrische bakstenen voorgevel met twee traveeën, waartussen in de eerste bouwlaag een recente poort geplaatst is. Deze poort heeft een stalen latei.
Metselwerk in kruisverband. In elke travee bevinden zich in de eerste laag een rechthoekige houten paneeldeur, een erkerachtig uitstulpend venster met decoratieve houten bloembak in de tweede laag, een uitstulpend balkon met dubbele achtruits balkondeuren in de derde laag. Het paneel van de rechter toegangsdeur, de vml. atelieringang, is verwijderd, het glas-in-lood van de tweede bouwlaag is vervangen. De balustrades van beide balkons worden onderling verbonden door een keramische gevellijst die de verticaliteit van het ontwerp enigszins doorbreekt. De gevel wordt beëindigd door een houten balkonluifel en een plat dak met luifelgoot.
Waardering
Het pand is van cultuurhistorisch belang vanwege de oorspronkelijke bestemming als glazeniersatelier en als bijzondere uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling. Dit woonhuis-atelier beschikt vanwege de expressionistische bouwstijl, de betrokkenheid van de architecten Boosten en Ritzen en de esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp over aanzienlijke architectuurhistorische waarden.
Uit oogpunt van ensemblewaarden is deze atelierwoning een belangrijk onderdeel van de vroeg-twintigste eeuwse uitbreiding van het stadsdeel Wyck. Het pand is dientengevolge vanwege de situering verbonden met de ontwikkeling van de stad en van betekenis voor het aanzien van de wijk.

Description
Property with three storeys on rectangular floor plan, partly provided with a marl cellar. The whole is covered by flat roofs. The first storey with studio space takes up the entire plot area. The studio has been rebuilt several times and among other things provided with renewed light incidence. Above the studio are two residential storeys, on the flat roof section a roof terrace.
Expressionistically designed, symmetrical brick front facade with two bays, between which a recent gate is placed on the first storey. This gate has a steel lintel.
Masonry in cross bond. In each bay are on the first storey a rectangular wooden panel door, an alcove-like protruding window with decorative wooden flower box on the second storey, a protruding balcony with double French balcony doors on the third storey. The panel of the right entrance door, the former studio entrance, has been removed, the stained glass of the second storey has been replaced. The balustrades of both balconies are interconnected by a ceramic facade strip which somewhat breaks the verticality of the design. The facade is terminated by a wooden balcony canopy and a flat roof with gutter.
Valuation
The property is of cultural-historical importance because of its original purpose as a glazier's studio and as a particular expression of a typological development. This dwelling-studio has, because of the expressionistic building style, the involvement of architects Boosten and Ritzen and the aesthetic quality of the design, considerable architectural-historical values.
From the point of view of ensemble values, this studio dwelling is an important component of the early twentieth century expansion of the Wyck district. The property is consequently because of its situation connected with the development of the city and of significance for the appearance of the neighbourhood.
The property has, as far as the front facade is concerned, a reasonable degree of architectural integrity, is of importance for the structural/visual integrity of the urban environment and is reasonably rare in architectural-historical and typological respect.
