Inleiding
VILLA in expressionistische stijl, in 1926 gebouwd naar een ontwerp van architect F.P.J. Peutz uit Heerlen, in opdracht van Dr. E. Sträter. De villa is gesitueerd in het Aldenhofpark, tussen de Prins Bisschopsingel en de stadsmuur. De diverse bijbouwen zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
De villa heeft een in de dwarsrichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met twee gekruiste zadeldaken met rode Oud-Hollandse pannen.
Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen voorzien van pleisterwerk en hardsteen. Rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren met bovenlichten.
Vrijstaande villa, die zich kenmerkt door een geheel gepleisterde optrek in grijs en wit en een onregelmatige gevelindeling. De oostgevel heeft een portiek in de oksel van de noordhoek plus een overhoeks geprojecteerde, rechthoekige, dubbele erker op de zuidhoek. In de middenas bevindt zich een getrapt verspringende schoorsteenpartij. De overige gevels hebben een onregelmatige vensterindeling.
In de frontgevel tweede bouwlaag een loggia met smeedijzeren leuning. In de rechterzijgevel een deur met kleine luifel.
Aan de achtergevel in de eerste bouwlaag een aanbouw met hierop in de tweede bouwlaag een zich over de gehele gevelbreedte uitstrekkend balkon met houten balustrade, deels rustend op een tweetal kolommen. Deze aanbouw dateert uit 1941. In het rechterdeel van de achtergevel in de eerste bouwlaag een overkapt terras.
Van het INTERIEUR is onder meer van belang: hal met eikenhouten lambrizering met decoratief houtsnijwerk; originele houten trap met leuning doorlopend tot de zolderverdieping; diverse originele houten paneeldeuren.
Waardering
De villa bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens het belang voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur, als specimen van het oeuvre van de architect F.P.J. Peutz en wegens de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp.
Ensemblewaarde ontleent deze villa aan de situering in het Aldenhofpark, een gebied dat stedebouwkundig van groot belang is, dat verbonden is met de ontwikkeling van de stad en dat zich kenmerkt vanwege de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch ruimtelijke relatie met de omliggende groenvoorzieningen, wegen en wateren. The villa has a rectangular floor plan placed in the transverse direction, comprises two storeys and is covered with two crossed gabled roofs with red old-Dutch tiles.
The building material used is brick with rendering and hard stone. Rectangular wooden windows and doors with fanlights.
Detached villa, which is characterized by a fully rendered exterior in grey and white and an irregular facade layout. The east facade has a portico in the angle at the north corner plus a diagonally projected, rectangular, double bay window on the south corner. In the central axis there is a stepped projecting chimney stack. The other facades have irregular window placement.
In the front facade on the second storey a loggia with wrought-iron railing. In the right-side facade a door with small canopy.
On the rear facade on the first storey an extension with on the second storey a balcony extending across the entire facade width with wooden balustrade, partly resting on two columns. This extension dates from 1941. In the right part of the rear facade on the first storey a covered terrace.
From the INTERIOR the following are of importance: hall with oak-wood wainscoting with decorative wood carving; original wooden staircase with railing continuing to the attic storey; various original wooden panelled doors.

The villa possesses architectural-historical value on account of its importance for the history of architecture, as a specimen of the oeuvre of architect F.P.J. Peutz and on account of the high-quality aesthetic qualities of the design.
