Inleiding
GRAFMONUMENT Gericke van Herwijnen-De Salis, 1843-1873, bestaande uit een combinatie van een antieke sarcofaag en een tempelfront, omgeven door een eenvoudig smeedijzeren hekwerk.
Omschrijving
Hardstenen graftombe in de vorm van een antieke sarcofaag, de zijden bekroond door frontons, de hoeken door acroteria. Inscriptie op de lange voorzijde: "Ter nagedachtenis van Jonkheer Gericke van Herwijnen Staatsraad Gouverneur van het Hertogdom Limburg". Op de lange achterzijde: "Geb. den 23 februari 1785, overleden 19 november 1845". Op de korte zijde in hoogreliëf een schedel en gekruiste doodsbeenderen. Op de korte achterzijde in hoogreliëf een grafkrans.
Naast de sarcofaag een witmarmeren grafmonument op een hoog hardstenen basement. Dit monument is opgebouwd als een tempelfront: vier hoekpijlers met dorische kapitelen, kroonlijst, frontons, acroteria. Tussen de achterste hoekzuilen een staande marmerplaat met aan de bovenzijde in hoogreliëf de familiewapens van Gericke van Herwijnen en van De Salis Soglio, waaronder een inscriptie op spreukband: "Hier rust de hoogwelgeboren vrouwe Catharina Baronesse de Salis Soglio. Echtgenoote van den HoogWelGeboren Heer Jonkheer Gericke van Herwijnen in leven Staatsraad Gouverneur van het Hertogdom Limburg geboren den 16. april 1806 overleden te Maastricht den 31. mei 1875".
Waardering

Beside the sarcophagus a white marble funeral monument on a high sandstone basement. This monument is constructed as a temple front: four corner pillars with Doric capitals, cornice, pediments, acroteria. Between the rear corner columns a standing marble slab with at the top in high relief the family coats of arms of Gericke van Herwijnen and de Salis Soglio, below which an inscription on a scroll: "Here rests the most noble lady Catharina Baroness de Salis Soglio.
