Inleiding
In de negentiende eeuw was deze buurt een turfkolonie met veel door turfmakers en turfbazen gebouwde woningen zoals deze. Dergelijke zogenaamde vervenershuisjes, die vaak waren samengesteld uit een woongedeelte met een kleine bedrijfsruimte zijn tegenwoordig voornamelijk in gebruik als vakantie- en weekendhuisje.
Omschrijving
Dit voormalige vervenershuisje is in traditionele trant opgetrokken vanuit een rechthoekige platte-grond en heeft een met riet gedekt asymmetrisch zadel-/schilddak en een houten windveer. In de linker zijgevel een krimp. De waarschijnlijk oudere voorgevel is uitgevoerd in handvormsteen en voorzien van onder meer twee zeer kleine zoldervensters met keperboog. Aan de achterzijde zit de toegang in een opgewipt deel van het dak, dat is voorzien van een uilebord met zwanenhalsje. Het interieur van het pand is niet meer origineel.
Waardering
Vervenershuisjes zijn belangrijke herinneringen aan de verveningsgeschiedenis van de streek en zijn derhalve van waarde voor de cultuur-historie en sociaal-economische geschiedenis van de gemeente. Het huisje is, samen met andere, reeds als Rijksmonument beschermde, vervenershuisjes, van belang als karakteristiek onderdeel van het kraggenlandschap.

In the nineteenth century this neighbourhood was a peat colony with many dwellings built by peat workers and peat merchants such as this one. Such so-called peat workers' cottages, which often consisted of a residential section with a small business space, are nowadays chiefly used as holiday and weekend cottages.
Description
This former peat workers' cottage is constructed in traditional style on a rectangular footprint and has an asymmetrical gabled/hipped roof covered with thatch and a wooden weathervane. In the left side facade a crack. The probably older front facade is executed in handmade brick and features, among other things, two very small attic windows with herringbone arch. On the rear side the entrance is in a lifted section of the roof, which is fitted with an owl board with swan-necked detail. The interior of the building is no longer original.
Valuation
Peat workers' cottages are important reminders of the peat-working history of the region and are therefore of value for the cultural history and socio-economic history of the municipality. The cottage, together with others already protected as national monuments, is significant as a characteristic component of the strip landscape.
