Omschrijving woonhuis Voorschoterlaan 46.
Inleiding:
HERENHUIS in de oostelijk rooilijn van de Voorschoterlaan, in 1908 gebouwd in sobere Um-1800 (overgangs)stijl, naar ontwerp van het Rotterdamse architectenbureau C.Bruijnzeel en zonen.
NB De naam van de architect is op een koperenplaatje rechts onder op de gevel aangebracht.
Omschrijving:
Woonhuis van twee bouwlagen en een kapverdieping op een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken in rode baksteen met natuurstenen plint, dorpels en ornamenten. Het pand heeft een hoog zadeldak bekleed met grijsblauwe schubleien (rensdak). De rechthoekige schuifvensters hebben houten kozijnen en een houten kroonlijst.
De gevel wordt door lisenen aan weerszijde van de vensters geleed in drie vensterassen. De middelste twee lisenen beginnen ter hoogte van de eerste verdieping, gesteund door gedecoreerde natuurstenen consoles.
In de linker vensteras een houten deur met getoogd venster, ruitvormig onderverdeeld. De deur is gevat in een witte houten omlijsting gedecoreerd met ionische kapitelen en een architraaf met festoen onder een houten kroonlijst.
De gevel wordt beëindigd door een rijk gedecoreerde houten band met in het verlengde van de lisenen kapitelen die de bovengelegen kroonlijst dragen.
Boven de kroonlijst geheel links en geheel rechts natuurstenen sierblokken. Het dak wordt vlak boven de kroonlijst, in de vensterassen van de gevel, onderbroken door drie rechthoekige dakkapellen met ruitvormige onderverdeling.
Waardering:
Herenhuis in zorgvuldig gedetailleerde Um-1800 stijl van algemeen belang wegens architectuurhistorische waarde, alsook representatief voor het gevelarchitectuur-oeuvre van C. Bruijnzeel in Rotterdam.

GENTLEMAN'S HOUSE in the eastern building line of the Voorschoterlaan, built in 1908 in sober Late-18th-century (transitional) style, designed by the Rotterdam architectural firm C. Bruijnzeel and sons.
NB The architect's name is displayed on a copper plaque on the right below the facade.
Description:
Residential house of two storeys and an attic storey on a rectangular plan, constructed in red brick with natural stone plinth, sills and ornaments. The building has a high gabled roof covered with grey-blue slate tiles (Rhenish roof). The rectangular sash windows have wooden frames and a wooden cornice.
The facade is articulated by pilasters on either side of the windows into three window bays. The middle two pilasters commence at the level of the first floor, supported by decorated natural stone consoles.
In the left window bay a wooden door with a segmented arch window, subdivided in diamond pattern. The door is set in a white wooden frame decorated with Ionic capitals and an architrave with festoon beneath a wooden cornice.
The facade is terminated by a richly decorated wooden band with, in line with the pilasters, capitals supporting the cornice above.
Above the cornice at the far left and far right natural stone ornamental blocks. The roof is interrupted flat above the cornice, in the window bays of the facade, by three rectangular roof dormers with diamond-pattern subdivision.
Valuation:
Gentleman's house in carefully detailed Late-18th-century style of general importance due to architectural-historical value, and also representative of the facade architecture work of C. Bruijnzeel in Rotterdam.
