Omschrijving clubgebouw Rotterdamsche Zeilvereeniging.
Inleiding:
Vrijstaand CLUBGEBOUW voor de Rotterdamsche Zeilvereeniging aan de zuidelijke oever van de Kralingse Plas, in 1937 gebouwd in de stijl van het Nieuwe Bouwen naar ontwerp van architect W. van Tijen. Het gebouw verving het in 1936 afgebrande houten clubhuis uit 1918.
Omschrijving:
Het uit twee bouwlagen bestaande clubgebouw is op een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken gedeeltelijk in wit geschilderde baksteen, gedeeltelijk in hout. Het heeft een licht gebogen, naar de straatzijde hellend dak, opgebouwd uit vurehouten vloerdelen die met vliegtuiglijm op elkaar werden gelijmd en bedekt met mastiek.
Het gebouw bevat op de begane grond, naast een ruime berging, kleedhokken, een bestuurskamer en een loge voor de bootsman en op de iets terugliggende verdieping een clublokaal met aan de waterkant over de gehele breedte een terras.
Op de begane grond heeft de gevel aan de waterkant een strook van vier rechthoekige drie-ledige vensters en links een dubbele deur naar de steiger. Rechts hiervan een ijzeren trap naar het terras op de verdieping met aan het rechter uiteinde een vlaggemast. De gevel van het clublokaal bestaat uit een groen geverfd frame van hout met glas. Een tweetal dubbele houten deuren in het midden en enkele deuren links en rechts geven toegang tot het terras.
De luifel van het overbuigende dak steunt op zeven houten pijlers op het terras met aan de uiteinden een windscherm: een driedelig raamwerk van hout met in de onderste twee vlakken draadglas.
De westelijke zijgevel wordt onderbroken door een schoorsteen en heeft een kleine aanbouw met lessenaarsdak. Links hiervan bevindt zich een getoogde houten deur en daarnaast een smal liggend venster. Links in het gevelvlak de initialen van de Rotterdamsche Zeilvereeniging, RZV.
De oostelijke zijgevel heeft rechts eveneens een getoogde houten deur, hier geflankeerd door liggende rechthoekige vensters, rechts twee-, links drieledig.
In de nok hebben beide gevels een identieke gebogen zevenledige raamstrook, aan de westgevel onderbroken door de schoorsteen.
Aan de straatzijde wordt het gevelbeeld bepaald door een transparant ingangsportaal (glas in staalprofielen) en een "open" trappehuis naar de verdieping. Deze uitbouw is bedekt met mastiek.
Rechts van de ingang loopt het dak van de uitbouw door in een luifel. Het eronder gelegen gevelvlak is afgewerkt met rechthoekige lichtgele tegels.
Onder de dakrand bevinden zich liggende rechthoekige vensters. Geheel links op de begane grond drie rechthoekige vensters met kleine drieledige bovenlichten.

Description:
The clubhouse consisting of two storeys is built on a rectangular floor plan partly in white painted brickwork, partly in wood. It has a slightly curved roof sloping towards the street side, built up from spruce wood floor sections that were glued together with aircraft adhesive and covered with mastic.
The building contains on the ground floor, besides ample storage, changing rooms, a committee room and a lodge for the boatswain, and on the slightly recessed upper floor a club room with a terrace across the full width on the waterside.
On the ground floor the facade on the waterside has a strip of four rectangular three-part windows and on the left a double door to the jetty. To the right of this an iron staircase to the terrace on the upper floor with a flagpole at the right end. The facade of the club room consists of a green painted wooden frame with glass. Two pairs of double wooden doors in the middle and single doors left and right give access to the terrace.
The canopy of the overhanging roof is supported on seven wooden columns on the terrace with a windscreen at the ends: a three-part wooden frame with wire glass in the lower two panels.
The western side facade is interrupted by a chimney and has a small extension with a sloping roof. To the left of this there is a curved wooden door and next to it a narrow horizontal window. On the left in the facade the initials of the Rotterdamsche Zeilvereeniging, RZV.
The eastern side facade also has on the right a curved wooden door, here flanked by horizontal rectangular windows, on the right two-part, on the left three-part.
In the ridge both facades have an identical curved seven-part window strip, interrupted on the west facade by the chimney.
On the street side the facade appearance is determined by a transparent entrance portal (glass in steel sections) and an "open" staircase to the upper floor. This extension is covered with mastic.
To the right of the entrance the roof of the extension continues as a canopy. The facade surface beneath it is finished with rectangular light yellow tiles.
Below the roof edge there are horizontal rectangular windows. Furthest left on the ground floor three rectangular windows with small three-part fanlights.
