Omschrijving strokenbouw "Jaffa", Ramlehstraat 3 t/m 26.
Omschrijving:
De meest oostelijk strook deel uitmakend van het "Jaffacomplex" in Nieuw Zakelijke trant naar ontwerp van W.Th. ten Bosselen, in het verlengde van de Kralingse Plaslaanflat. De voorgevel is spiegelbeeldig aan weerszijden van de portiek: een Frans balkon waarnaast een rechthoekig T-venster met ernaast een groot rechthoekig venster met houten kozijnen waarin draaibare onderdelen van staal.
De portieken, hier tot aan de tweede verdieping, worden boven de gemeenschappelijke ingangen geaccentueerd door een licht getoogd bovenlicht met stalen roedenverdeling.
Aan de achterzijde, de tuinkant, bevinden zich inpandige kamerbrede balkons met een iets uitkragende omheining bestaande uit een borstwering van glas in een stalen frame. De achterliggende kamer heeft een houten gevelpui waarin een groot raam en een deur. Voorts bevindt zich in de zijgevel van het balkon een deur naar de ernaast gelegen kamer. De naast elkaar gelegen balkons van deze woningen worden tot aan de volgende bouwlaag gescheiden door een betonnen muur deels betegeld met terracotta rode tegels. Op de begane grond staan de balkons via een trap in verbinding met de tuin.
De geleding van de achtergevel is eveneens spiegelbeeldig: naast de balkons bevinden zich aan weerszijde rechthoekige drieledige vensters met in het linker en het rechter deel draaibare stalen vensteronderdelen. Hiernaast een Frans balkon.
De zijgevel is eenvoudig geleed: naast het balkonvenster geheel rechts een iets breder tweeledig venster in het midden en geheel links een smal venster.
Waardering:
In Nieuw Zakelijke trant uitgevoerd woonblok onderdeel van vroege open strokenverkaveling, van algemeen belang wegens stedenbouwkundige- en architectuurhistorische waarde.

The most easterly strip forming part of the "Jaffa complex" in the New Functionalist style designed by W.Th. ten Bosselen, in line with the Kralingse Plaslaanflat. The front facade is mirrored on either side of the portico: a French balcony next to which is a rectangular T-window and next to it a large rectangular window with wooden frames with movable components of steel.
The porticoes, here up to the second storey, are emphasised above the shared entrances by a slightly arched fanlight with steel glazing bars.
On the rear side, the garden side, there are room-wide built-in balconies with a slightly projecting enclosure consisting of a parapet of glass in a steel frame. The rear room has a wooden facade element with a large window and a door. Furthermore there is in the side facade of the balcony a door to the adjacent room. The adjacent balconies of these dwellings are separated up to the next storey by a concrete wall partly tiled with terracotta red tiles. On the ground floor the balconies are connected to the garden via a staircase.
The articulation of the rear facade is equally mirrored: next to the balconies there are on either side rectangular three-part windows with in the left and right parts movable steel window components. Next to it a French balcony.
The side facade is simply articulated: next to the balcony window at the far right a slightly wider two-part window in the middle and at the far left a narrow window.
Valuation:
Residential block executed in the New Functionalist style, part of early open strip development, of general importance due to urban planning and architectural-historical value.
