Inleiding
Omstreeks 1880 noordelijk in het Vondelpark en oostelijk van de Kattenlaan in een eenvoudige neo-renaissance stijl ontworpen vrijstaand GEMAAL in opdracht van het bestuur van de Vereeniging tot oprichting van een Rij- en Wandelpark te Amsterdam.
N.B. De machines bevonden zich in het voorhuis. Nadat de Overtoomse vaart en de Kattensloot in 1903 werden gedempt is het pand verbouwd tot PARKOPZICHTERSWONING en uitgebreid met een achterhuis.
Omschrijving
Op een samengestelde plattegrond tot stand gekomen in baksteen opgetrokken woning op een natuurstenen plint bestaande uit twee bouwlagen onder een dwars geplaatst en overstekend zadeldak bedekt met pannen en een geprofileerde gootlijst. Aan beide uiteinden van het dak een gemetselde schoorsteen.
Voorgevel bestaande uit drie traveeën waarvan de middelste travee uitgevoerd is als verhoogde risaliet onder een steekkap bedekt met pannen. De overgang naar de verdieping wordt gevormd door een afwaterende cordonlijst. De entree is gelegen in de risaliet onder een uitkragende geprofileerde waterlijst op sierconsoles. Rechthoekige panelendeur met smal horizontaal bovenlicht. In de verdieping van het risaliet twee segmentvormige gekoppelde zesruitsvensters onder een brede gepleisterde waterlijst. Daarboven een ronde wijzerklok. In de hoektraveeën gekoppelde schuiframen met tweeruits bovenlichten onder uitkragende waterlijsten. Onder de gepleisterde cordonband vier eveneens gepleisterde gietijzeren rozetankers. Onder de gootlijst zes blindvensters.
Rechterzijgevel (ZO) vertoont een teruggerooid geveldeel met houten uitbouw. Vensters voorzien van houten zonluiken. Vooruitspringend geveldeel toont beganegronds twee blindvensters onder waterlijsten en een rozetanker. Overgang naar kapverdieping wordt gemarkeerd door afwaterende en gepleisterde cordonband.
Interieur. De bovenverdieping van het voorhuis heeft nog de oorspronkelijke houten balkconstructie.
Waardering
Voormalig gemaal en later parkopzichterswoning van belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van de oorspronkelijke bebouwing in het Vondelpark.

Around 1880 northerly in the Vondelpark and easterly of the Kattenlaan designed in a simple neo-Renaissance style detached PUMPING STATION commissioned by the board of the Association for the establishment of a Riding and Walking Park in Amsterdam.
N.B. The machines were located in the front house. After the Overtoomse vaart and the Kattensloot were filled in in 1903 the building was converted to a PARK SUPERINTENDENT'S HOUSE and extended with a rear building.
Description
On a composite floor plan erected in brick dwelling on a natural stone plinth consisting of two storeys under a transversely placed and overhanging gabled roof covered with tiles and a moulded gutter edge. At both ends of the roof a masoned chimney.
Front facade consisting of three bays of which the middle bay is executed as a raised risalit under a steeple cap covered with tiles. The transition to the upper storey is formed by a draining cornice band. The entrance is located in the risalit under a projecting moulded drip moulding on ornamental consoles. Rectangular panelled door with narrow horizontal fanlight. In the upper storey of the risalit two segmented coupled six-pane windows under a broad plastered drip moulding. Above it a round clock face. In the corner bays coupled sash windows with two-pane fanlights under projecting drip mouldings. Under the plastered cornice band four likewise plastered cast-iron rose anchors. Under the gutter edge six blind windows.
Right side gable (SE) shows a recessed facade section with wooden extension. Windows provided with wooden sun shutters. Projecting facade section shows on the ground floor two blind windows under drip mouldings and a rose anchor. Transition to mansard storey is marked by draining and plastered cornice band.
Interior. The upper storey of the front house still has the original wooden beam construction.
Valuation
Former pumping station and later park superintendent's house of importance as a historical-functional component of the original building in the Vondelpark.
