The register's description

Inleiding

Introduction

A STOLP FARMHOUSE of the derived Westfriesian type, located on the south side of the road, possibly older in origin, but in its current form dating mainly from the periods around 1870 and 1915. The farmhouse, which bears the name "Greta Hoeve", stands with its roof ridge parallel to the road and is divided into two dwellings. Without damaging the monumental character of the farmhouse, the masonry and facade layout of the left side and rear have been altered.

N.B. The attached stone barn on the south side falls outside the protection.

Description

A stolp farmhouse built on a rectangular ground plan beneath a reed-thatched hipped roof with surrounding edging in black Dutch tile. In the right roof slope (W) stands a round chimney on a square base with a stone bearing the date 1868. The internal wooden roof truss structure consists of a double square with collar-tie trusses and overhang above the dwelling on the west side.

The masonry is built in red brick, partly plastered with cement-containing plaster with grooves. The aforementioned chimney consists of red brick with yellow brick and hardstone for decoration.

The front (N) has the recessed threshing door on the left (E). To the right of this, the front is symmetrical and across the width of eight window bays, which with the exception of the third bay from the left are fitted with sash windows. The aforementioned third bay contains a panelled door with fanlight. The panelled door has an iron harness. The two middle bays are located in a high central section which intersects the roof foot. The corners of the central section are finished with lisene-like masonry and plastered. The central section has a gently sloping and overhanging saddle roof with black Dutch tile. The roof ridges and gutter lines are smooth and contain at the top woodcarving and a bracket and on both corners vertical ornamental elements. Below the gable top of the central section is a five-part window with higher sash window in the middle. This window is closed off by a broad relieving arch. The facade surfaces flanking the central section each have a smooth cornice with consoles.

The right side (S) has six pairs of window bays with sash windows. The dwelling on the west side has a drain with purple tiles.

Appraisal

The stolp farmhouse is of general interest from a cultural and architectural-historical perspective as a well-preserved example of agricultural architecture from the decades around 1900.
