Inleiding
Dijkcoupure in de Polderdijk, een binnendijk tussen de Poortvliet en Malland polder en de Klaas van Steeland polder; aangebracht ingevolge de dijkverhogingen na de overstroming van de Nieuw Strijenpolder in 1894. De coupure werd in 1972 met circa 1,5 meter verbreed, door een van de wanden te verzetten.
Iets ten noordoosten in de Zuiddijk, tussen de Nieuw Strijenpolder en de Poortvliet en Malland polder, bevindt zich een duiker ter suering van het gebied ten zuiden van Poortvliet. Deze is voorzien van een gedenksteen met het jaartal 1844.
Omschrijving
De coupure bestaat uit bakstenen keermuren met natuurstenen sponningen ten behoeve van de schotbalken. De duiker bezit aan de zijde van de Poortvliet en Malland polder een gemetselde gewelf-beeindiging met vleugel-keermuren voorzien van vlechtingen. De deuren zijn zogenaamde puntdeuren, die automatisch sluiten. De gedenksteen bevindt zich aan de zijde van de Nieuw-Strijenpolder.
Waardering
Als complex van karakteristieke polderelementen van belang voor de geschiedenis van de behandeling van het binnenwater en de strijd tegen het buitenwater en als zodanig van cultuurhistorische waarde.

Introduction
Dike cut in the Polderdijk, an inner dike between the Poortvliet and Malland polder and the Klaas van Steeland polder; installed pursuant to the dike heightenings following the flooding of the Nieuw Strijenpolder in 1894. The cut was widened in 1972 by approximately 1.5 metres, by moving one of the walls.
Slightly to the north-east in the Zuiddijk, between the Nieuw Strijenpolder and the Poortvliet and Malland polder, there is a sluice for drainage of the area south of Poortvliet. This is provided with a commemorative stone with the date 1844.
Description
The cut consists of brick retaining walls with natural stone sill-stones for the benefit of the baulk doors. The sluice has on the side of the Poortvliet and Malland polder a mortared vault-termination with wing retaining walls provided with wattle. The doors are so-called point doors, which close automatically. The commemorative stone is located on the side of the Nieuw-Strijenpolder.
