Inleiding
HERENHUIS, genaamd Nederland, uitgevoerd in neo-renaissancestijl en deel uitmakend van het complex De Zeven Landen, ontworpen door Tj. Kuipers in 1894.
N.B. In 1958 werd een erker aan de achtergevel gebouwd, naar ontwerp van S. Meijer en in opdracht van N.V. Th.J. Huying Handel Mij. Deze aanbouw valt buiten de bescherming. Verder diverse vergrotingen en wijzigingen van met name het interieur en van de kozijnen; aanpassingen aan de veranderde functies als kantoorruimte en hotel. In verband met dit laatste werd een inwendige doorgang gemaakt met het naastgelegen nr.30A.
Object-omschrijving
Herenhuis van vier bouwlagen: begane grond, eerste en tweede verdieping, en kapverdieping. Opgetrokken in baksteen met symmetrische neo-renaissancistische trapgevel op geprofileerde hardstenen plint. Schuinoplopend dakschild, gedekt met platte pannen; verder waarschijnlijk plat dak. Aan weerszijden van het dakschild een trapgevel. De begane grond heeft aan de rechterzijde de toegangspartij bestaande uit een oorspronkelijke toegangsdeur met halfrond bovenlicht, hardstenen dorpel, spaarvelden met concha-motief en fries met florale stucwerkdecoratie. Verder een tweetal vensters met dubbele houten luiken met geheng. Decoratieve friezen met in midden banderol met landsnaam 'Nederland'. Speklagen en cordonlijst. Op de eerste verdieping een drietal vensters met kroonlijst, verdiepte segmentvormge spaarvelden en hanekam met hoek- en sluitstenen. Cordonlijst met fries waarin decoratief metselwerk en gestucte diamantkoppen, alsmede een tweetal cartouches in rolwerk, met tekst 'Anno 1894'. Op de tweede verdieping een tweetal vensters met kroonlijst. Verder gemetselde strekken, gestucte speklagen en -blokken. Tussen de vensters een rechthoekig gestuct ornament met renaissance- motieven en centrale zonnewijzer. De top van de gevel heeft boven een cordonlijst een centraal venster met borstwering en balusters. Aan weerszijden boogvormige spaarvelden met gestucte schelpmotieven. Verder opeenvolgende cordonlijsten, speklagen en klauwstukken, een hijsluik en een gestuct ornament in de tuit. Twee kleine dakkapellen met kroonlijst en zinken tentdak met piron.
Waardering
Rijk gedetailleerd herenhuis van algemeen belang vanwege architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als zeldzaam voorbeeld van een geheel op de inheemse, 'Oud-Hollandsche' bouwtradities geïnspireerde architectuur in de context van een complexmatige staalkaart van Europese bouwstijlen en als onderdeel van het door Tj. Object description
Mansion of four storeys: ground floor, first and second floor, and attic storey. Built of brick with symmetrical neo-Renaissance stepped gable on moulded hardstone plinth. Pitched roof slope, covered with flat tiles; further probably flat roof. On either side of the roof slope a stepped gable. The ground floor has on the right side the entrance section consisting of an original entrance door with semi-circular fanlight, hardstone dorpel, spandrels with shell motif and frieze with floral stucco decoration. Further two windows with double wooden shutters with hinges. Decorative friezes with in the middle banderole with land name 'Nederland'. Speckled courses and cordon moulding. On the first floor three windows with cornice, recessed segmental spandrels and notch and corner and closing stones. Cordon moulding with frieze in which decorative brickwork and stuccoed diamond heads, as well as two cartouches in scrollwork, with text 'Anno 1894'. On the second floor two windows with cornice. Further mortared sections, stuccoed speckled courses and blocks. Between the windows a rectangular stuccoed ornament with Renaissance motifs and central sundial. The top of the gable has above a cordon moulding a central window with breastwork and balusters. On either side arched spandrels with stuccoed shell motifs. Further successive cordon mouldings, speckled courses and corbel stones, a hoist window and a stuccoed ornament in the spout. Two small roof dormers with cornice and zinc tent roof with finial.
Valuation
Richly detailed mansion of general importance because of its architectural and cultural-historical value as a rare example of architecture inspired entirely by indigenous, 'Old Dutch' building traditions in the context of a complex sample card of European building styles and as part of the complex De Zeven Landen designed by Tj. Kuipers.
